Our mission is to reduce barriers that prevent the community from flourishing by empowering adults and children to access programs and services that encourage them to proactively learn, knowledge-build and to strive towards achieving a brighter future.

The Midvale Hub has gained a community-wide reputation for being an approachable, friendly and helpful organisation. Over the last 30 years we have been successful on having:• a high level of community trust and respect• a strong knowledge of local context• a track record in becoming increasingly more

effective through research, continuous learning, engagement and relationship building

• a longstanding relationships with key stakeholders

• an ability to engage new stakeholders to achieve even better integrated programs/services for parents and children

• a strong relationship with the local Aboriginal and CALD communities

The Midvale Hub delivers a suite of early education and care services, parenting programs and adult study programs that are designed with local families to meet grassroots needs. The Hub also fosters partnerships with other organisations to deliver integrated programs/services to provide solutions that cater for a broad range of community health, education and family support needs. The facilitation and delivery of high quality education, parenting and well-being programs/services in a positive way has resulted in achieving significant improvements in development and learning outcomes for the local community.

What we doThe Midvale Hub has three purpose built community-based facilities that provide children and families with a safe place to learn, play and grow. Many of these programs and services operate from these locations:• Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre• Child and Parent Centre – Swan (Middle Swan

and Clayton View)

In addition, our programs/services also operate at our local primary schools (Midvale, Middle Swan, Clayton View and Swan View). By having access to these environments, this enables us to have a greater exposure to the community to deliver effective programs/services that address the needs of the community.

Midvale Hub CentresMidvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre

Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre is the ‘Heart’ of the Hub.

The Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre provides the Hub’s professional team of early education, parenting and outreach workers and partnering agencies with training in the Midvale Hub’s Integrated Service Model.

Services provided at Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre include high quality education and care programs for children aged 0-12 years and a range of family education and support programs. The Hub team forms respectful and meaningful partnerships with parents to actively involve them in their children’s learning and development. By promoting positive parenting practices the Hub team walks alongside parents to build confi dence and develop skills to be actively involved in their child’s learning at home, in early years services and at school.

The Hub’s promotion of life-long learning supports parents in improving their parenting skills along with adult study options for parents to improve their own education and gain employment skills and qualifi cations.

A range of family support and health program also operate at and through the Centre.

The Midvale Hub’s two new purpose built sites were designed in consultation with the local community to meet the aspirations of local families. The Middle Swan site is one of the Department of Education’s Child and Parent Centres located on school sites across the state which support the development, early learning, health and wellbeing of children form pre-birth to 8 years old.

The range of integrated services provided by the Midvale Hub at the Midvale Early Childhood and Parenting Centre are replicated at the Middle Swan and Clayton View sites. In addition the Middle Swan and Clayton View sites provide fully equipped health rooms and a doctor’s surgery to provide comprehensive free health services for all families accessing the centres.

In addition to Hub and Child and Parent Centre programs, our Clayton View site off ers specialised child care for babies and toddlers as well as an award winning young parents’ study program, Midland Young Parents’ Program, which off ers parenting programs for very young parents along with study programs to achieve Year 12 and higher qualifi cations.

To ensure that each child can grow, learn and thrive, the Midvale Hub team develops meaningful relationships with families using a partnership approach. Family life today is increasingly complex and a partnership approach to family support means we can work together to address barriers to healthy family functioning. Children thrive when they grow up in healthy households, with family members connected to required services and when they have access to quality early education and care programs. The Midvale Hub has evolved to support families in all these areas.

Many years ago the Midvale Hub recognised that no individual service can meet the increasingly complex needs of families. Working from an Integrated Service Model approach the Midvale Hub has forged eff ective partnerships with an array of government and non-government agencies to provide a rich network of services to strengthen families and to create a safety net of support in times of need. The Midvale Hub provides a range of universal programs and services for families along with targeted services. Our adult education focus ensures that parents learn vital parenting skills, life skills and employment skills to actively provide well for their families. Our high quality early education and care programs off er families early learning opportunities provide a platform for successful transition to school and life long learning.

Working from a holistic community engagement perspective and providing multiple ‘soft –entry’ points the Midvale Hub has been successful in identifying and engaging ‘at risk’ children and families.

The Hub’s expert team of Community Links outreach workers are specialised in connecting with traditionally ‘hard to reach’ families resulting in improved outcomes for those children and families who would have otherwise fallen through the gaps.

The Midvale Hub has been successful in engaging ‘at risk’ families by:• Being on the ground, in the community• Promptly recognising and actioning child

and parent needs• Providing warm and welcoming family friendly

spaces• Providing no cost/low cost programs and

services • Helping families apply for external program/

services funding (e.g. CCB, JET, NDIS, Austudy, Centrelink)

• Actively helping parents with administration and other bureaucratic requirements (e.g. fi lling out paperwork, making appointments)

• Providing transport solutions • Providing culturally sensitive, trauma informed

services.

The Midvale Hub is ever evolving as it responds to current and emerging needs of local children and families. Ongoing research and training ensures that the professionals working within Hub model continue to be eff ective in assisting families grow, learn and thrive.
