Helping Corporate Families Manage Crisis
in a New International Environment
Robin Finegan Krista Flannigan Co-President Co-President
Crisis Management Specialists
When a crisis happens involving employees who are working abroad, are you ready to offer their families in the United States the support that will help them cope?
This is an opportunity to give employees and their families a clear message that their safety and emotional well being are important.
Overview Eight-year partnership
working in multiple crisis situations.
Extensive experience working with victims of large-scale high profile disasters.
Specialization in working with victims of terrorism and Weapons Mass Destruction.
Ten years experience in media relations and public information on behalf of victims of crime and disaster.
Mission
Assist corporate executives by providing cutting-edge, supportive crisis management.
Establish trusting partnership between the state-side families of employees working abroad and corporate headquarters (HQ.)
Help families navigate a crisis by providing information, managing media, and offering both emotional and logistical support.
Serve as an advocate for families involved in a critical event.
Work hand-in-hand with corporate personnel to assist family members and foster a sense of goodwill.
What can we do for your company now – pre-crisis? Design individual crisis management plan to address
unique needs of corporation. Survey both families and employees to assess
concerns. Evaluate crisis intervention skill level within existing
corporate workforce. Create and maintain web site and other informational
material (video) for family members. Establish rapport with family members and corporate
personnel. Develop and maintain crisis intervention plan with
executives, HR, and PR departments.
Crisis Intervention Plan Brief crisis management (CM) specialist on
critical event. Initiate phone contact with family. Immediately dispatch CM Specialist to home
of personnel involved. Facilitate timely flow of information from high
level corporate sources to family members. Assist family with details: travel, transport of
body, funeral arrangements, media relations. Debrief personnel at corporate HQs.
The Challenge
New international environment demands a thorough employee assistance strategy to address heightened safety concerns as well as the emotional and logistical needs of state-side family members.
On-going EAP work loads make it difficult to adequately handle additional crisis demands.
Local crisis intervention professionals have no established rapport with families and little corporate understanding.
Individual crisis plan proves essential to meet specific needs and circumstances of corporation.
Effective crisis response must be able to mobilize immediately.
Outcomes
Address concerns of personnel state-side and abroad pre-crisis.
Meet needs of family post-crisis. Mitigate traumatic stress. Heighten employee morale and realize public
relations benefits. Foster sense of goodwill. Minimize short and long-term effects of crisis.
