10 DECEMBER 2017

The Bambuseae Rhythm Section supported by DJ NDORSE

Theatre Gardens The Bambuseae Rhythm Section will bring their original rhythm and blues, funk, afrobeat and worldly psychedelia to Subiaco for the inaugural sunset@subi concert for the 2017 / 2018 season. Wild and free one moment, soft and sensual the next; this music is designed for dancing your worries into oblivion. Join Bambuseae Rhythm Section for an afternoon of energy and dancing.

17 DECEMBER 2017

Cathrine Summers

Theatre Gardens

Join Cathrine Summers and Father Christmas for a very festive sunset@subi concert. Cathrine will bring to Theatre Gardens a mix of the golden-era jazz she is famous for, as well as the Christmas hits we all know and love. Cathrine, with her stunning voice, deep feeling and enthralling stage presence will join with our special guest for children, both young and old. Together, they will make this a concert not to miss.

An Auslan interpreter will be on stage for this concert.

07 JANUARY 2018

Voudou ZAZOU supported by Bonnie Scott’s Jazz Duo

Theatre Gardens

Infectious, fun and will have you coming back for more, Voudou ZAZOU’s music is the ultimate afternoon boost! Retaining the energy and traditional sound of guitarist Django Reinhart, circa Paris 1930s, Voudou ZAZOU conjures a Parisian feel with accordion, double bass, guitar and vocals to create a fresh and contemporary feel. Join Coo, Andy, Mark and Sid for an afternoon of glamour, style and sizzling vocals.

14 JANUARY 2018

The Sunshine Brothers

Nicholson Road Reserve

True to their name, The Sunshine Brothers share what is loved about a Perth summer – cold drinks, a sizzling BBQ and sunrays. This wild bunch will bring their personal mix of locally-inspired tropical dub, roots, reggae and ska music to the streets of Subiaco. Join us to watch the sun set and the brothers shine, as they capture and amplify the power and spirit of good people and good times.

21 JANUARY 2018

Libby Hammer

Nicholson Road Reserve

Simply put, Libby Hammer is one of Perth’s favourite jazz vocalists. She has a knack for digging up quirky and often overlooked tunes, and combining them with her daring vocal interpretations, high-flying improvisation and friendly banter. Joining her on stage will be her band of dreamboats (who never fail to impress the ladies). This will be a stunning, unmissable afternoon in the beautiful gardens of Subiaco.

28 JANUARY 2018

Special Brew supported by Choking Stanley

Market Square Known for their molten mix of music with the ability to make your feet move and your hips sway, Special Brew is Perth’s premier ska band for a reason. Enthralling local audiences for almost 30 years, the group will be performing the hits you know and love, written by their own fingers to the magic creations of others. The afternoon promises to be an addictive mix of jazz, reggae, salsa, big band and punk – be warned, dancing is inevitable.

04 FEBRUARY 2018

Billy and Elton Market Square Michael de Grussa and Noah Shilkin will sing you the song of the piano men in this exclusive performance. Join the talented pair as they combine savvy dressing, wit and their prowess on the keys to pay tribute to two songwriters who have defined this generation – Billy Joel and Elton John. An Auslan interpreter will be on stage for this concert.

11 FEBRUARY 2018

WAAPA Gospel Choir

Forrest Square car park

True soul music will fill the air as the uplifting voices of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts’ Gospel Choir reach new heights in the final Sunday afternoon performance of the sunset@subi series. Directed by Matt Allen, the choir combines the vocals of contemporary music students with a breath-taking, gospel inspired repertoire that will send shivers down your spine and warmth into your fingertips. As the sun sets, raise your voices up with the WAAPA Gospel Choir to say a final farewell – for now.
