Helpful (?) tips and pitfalls of Ansys Workbench

uploaded on 1%/1B/') Also make sure the order of the components (D& :& G) is

correct 6f using the aussian template (see Ale2is) for computing tabular heat

loads based on peak po4er density and WH.& the first column in the te2t file isacross the 4idth of the mirror (the aussian profile) and the top ro4 is along the

length of the mirror (clear aperture o0er 4hich the abo0e aussian is duplicated

for each discrete step si7e) Hence for a hori7ontally reflecting mirror& theaussian is on : and the clear aperture is D Therefore (for a sIuare heat flu2

element/cell and a long clear aperture o0er 4hich the heat flu2 is calculated)& the

first number in the @"6. command line should be larger and corresponds to the

number of : columns& 4hile the second number is the number of D ro4s (beamdirection)



11 When loading files (eg for a tabular load)& make sure there are no spaces or non*

A<!6 characters in the file name

1%& or a tabular load& make sure the 9<amed !elections; is being correctly linked to

the surface on 4hich the load is being applied

15 .ake absolutely sure the number of columns and ro4s are correct (4ill be one

less than in e2cel as first ro4 and column are used for location) by looking at the t4onumbers in the line 9@"6.& aussianJ%5& TA#=8& 11&$& 1&:&D; as inad0ertently

lea0ing characters or formatting from your e2cel sheet can scre4 it up The best 4ay

to ensure this is to copy your data from one e2cel sheet into a brand ne4 one before

sa0ing as a tab delimited te2t file

1> =ook to see that the amount of po4er remo0ed is similar to 4hat has gone in ($

difference okay due to A<!:! smoothing of data) Check this under the con0ection(for e2ample) reaction forces (no longer sho4n in er 11 as default& might still e2ist)



1$ 6n er 11& the structural displacement (and deri0ati0e) choice in the =#<= path

menu 4ill only display in the green !tatic !tructural en0ironment folder& not in the!teady*!tate Thermal en0ironment folder This can be recogni7ed 4hen your -esult

along 9ath; 4ill not sho4 a graphical output due to the 9atht2t; file (in cKLtempL)

ha0ing no results () in the last t4o columns



1' When adding a tabular load to your analysis& make sure the uppermost left handcorner has a MM in the cell
