• Sword Used in Assault, AxeBrandished During Carjacking
Leduc RCMP arrested two womenfollowing a carjacking on GrantMacewan Blvd. near Township 500 onAugust 3. Police report that at 10:50p.m., Leduc RCMP were dispatched toa carjacking. A male and female wereparked on the gravel road when theywere approached by a female in a pass-ing vehicle. The female suspect sprayedboth occupants with bear spray. Threeother suspects approached and the malebrandished an axe while demandingmoney and the keys to the vehicle. Bothvictims exited the vehicle and a femalesuspect assaulted the male victim with asword. Two female suspects fled in thevictim’s car. The stolen vehicle wasobserved a short time later by
Edmonton Police Services Air 1. Policeattended the area and a tire deflationdevice was unsuccessfully deployed,however the vehicle became stuck inthe ditch in the area of Highway 623and Range Road 235. Leduc RCMPwith the assistance of Edmonton policearrested two women. Junelle Desjarlais,36, of Wetaskiwin was charged withdangerous operation, robbery with aweapon, assault with a weapon (x2),theft of motor vehicle, obstruction andtheft under $5,000. Jessica Wildcat, 30of Maskwacis was charged with theft ofmotor vehicle, robbery with a weapon,assault with a weapon (x2) and theftunder $5,000. The victims of the car-jacking were transported to hospitalwhere they were treated and released.Leduc RCMP is looking to identify andlocate the other male and female sus-pects.
