About the Presenter

Melissa is Consultant with Deloitte Consulting LLP, working in the Education Design and Accreditation Branch at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. She has a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology and specializes in e-learning.

Melissa has been working on the CDC Learning Connection project prior to the website’s development in 2010 and is enthusiastic about its progress and impact on the public health community.

History of CDC LC

Launched November 2010 offering a list of products from CDC and non-CDC partners that are Available at no cost Easily accessible Designed for the *public health community

Began offering spotlights on relevant public health topics in January 2011

Launched CDC TRAIN, a portal into the national public health learning management system by PHF in August, 2011

Revamped for 2012 with a variety of new features and new look

* Public health community — all professionals and practitioners who work in public health; this includes but is not limited to physicians, nurses, epidemiologist, educators, sanitarians, pharmacists, and laboratorians.
