HC2 1m Helmholtz Coil

Helmholtz Coil SystemsHC1® 500mm Helmholtz CoilHelmholtz coil available as single, two or three-axis. Ity generates a homogeneous magnetic field, up to ±500μT at DC, and up to ±100μT at 3kHz*. The coils produce a homogeneous field to 0.1% in a volume of 260cm3.

HC2® 1m Helmholtz CoilThree-axis Helmholtz coil generating a homogeneous magnetic field up to ±250μT at DC and up to ±100μT at 300Hz*. It provides a homogeneous field to 1% in a volume of 14000cm3, and homogeneous to 0.1% in a volume of 2500cm3.

HC16 350mm Helmholtz CoilThree-axis Helmholtz coil with plastic coil structure, generating a homogeneous magnetic field up to ±1mT from DC to 440Hz and >±100μT at 5kHz*. It provides a homogeneous field to 1% in a volume of 1150cm3, and homogeneous to 0.1% in a volume of 175cm3.

Ferronato™ BH1300-C CoilA coil set comprising an assembly of up to three pairs of coils with single, dual or three-axis configurations. The coil pairs generate a homogeneous magnetic field up to ±500µT at DC and ±200µT at 100Hz. The BH1300-C provides a homogeneous field to 1% in a volume of 33500cm3.

Ferronato™ BHC2000-A CoilA coil set comprising an assembly of up to three pairs of coils, available in single, dual or three-axis configuration. The coil pairs generate a homogeneous magnetic field up to ±300µT at DC and ±50µT at 100Hz. The BHC2000-A provides a homogeneous field to 1% in a cube of 480mm side.

Helmholtz Coil Control SystemThis system is for use with our Helmholtz Coils and Ferronato™ Coils. It includes the PA1 Power Amplifier, CU1 Control Unit, and CU2 Closed-Loop Module. The PA1 provides power to the coils. The CU1 connected to a suitable National Instruments™ acquisition card makes the interface between the PA1 and a control computer. By using the CU2, active compensation of external DC and AC field is provided. This improves the stability of the field inside the coils, and facilitating the system setup.

Magnetic ShieldsA range of three-layer Mumetal shields used to attenuate the magnetic field inside the chamber. Typically reduces the Earth’s field of ≈50,000nT to a level of ~1nT. Shields are available with 100mm or 200mm internal diameters, and with a choice of open or capped ends.

Degaussing WandA mains-powered handheld device generating an AC magnetic field used to remove accumulated magnetism that might affect the performance and effectiveness of magnetic field sensors or shielding equipment. AC magnetic field frequency of 50/60Hz ±100μT pk-pk intensity at 300mm.

CU1 Control Unit

CU2 Control Unit

PA1 Power AmplifierA mains powered amplifier supplying the necessary power to supply the Helmhotlz Coils. Three supply output to power up to three-axis coils. Potentiometers enables DC field back-off.

CU1 Control UnitThis unit is an interface between the PA1 and a National Instruments™ based control system. The signal required to generate the field is routed through the CU1. The CU1 also provides power to two sensors, with signals from these and the current monitor, filtered and sent to the National Instruments™ system.

CU2 Close Loop ModuleThe CU2 Closed-Loop Module, supplied with a dedicated Reference Magnetometer, provides active compensation for external DC and AC magnetic field variations. This module is only compatible with 3-axis coils.

Control System ComponentsIn order to control the Helmholtz Coil system from a PC, a suitable National Instruments™ acquisition card can besupplied. This connects to the CU1, and enables a user to control the field generated using the supplied control software. Signals from the Device Under Test and Auxiliary sensor are also digitised by the acquisition card.Standalone suitable acquisition cards include the PCIe-6353 and USB-6363.
