The colour in every pixel, the sharpness of every line in focus, from the middle of the picture right to the far edges – in short: truly outstanding picture quality in a digital camera is achieved through a perfectly balanced trinity of lens, sensor and processor. This is relatively easy to do in a big, chunky body with interchangeable lenses at a premium price, but is more of a challenge in a super -compact camera at an affordable price point. But it was something we did not compromise on. At no point. It is the core of what your XZ-1 is about. As you will see!

The world -class 4x zoom from iZUIKO on your new XZ-1 is not only sharp as a sushi knife, it also takes in more light. Simply put, the 1:1.8 spec means it has a bigger opening than anything you normally find in a super - compact camera. So you can take pictures with very little available light without using the flash – and therefore capture the atmosphere in low-light situations. The XZ-1 really fills a gap here, making it not only the camera of choice for aspiring photography lovers who do not want to carry heavy stuff around, but a second camera for professionals as well.

FUNCTION

Technology right where you need it: we designed your XZ-1 to be operated by intuition. But photography has more possibilities than most people know. So the XZ-1 shows them: on the incredible 3-inch OLED monitor you see every little change in the picture settings live – meaning you know beforehand what your picture will look like afterwards. So instead of fiddling with technology, your XZ-1 lets you think about the ideas for your picture. Which is, in our opinion, the way it should be.

Making a camera intuitive to handle means putting controls where you expect them. Many parameters of the XZ-1 can be set by a ring around the lens, which is how we all controlled the aperture of our analogue SLRs for ages, and, we may add, a very convenient place. But this got lost when digital compacts took over. So now you can set parameters like shutter speed and aperture value (that’s the f-number) the easiest way. And, yes, there is a statement in this one: we made a camera that behaves like a camera – so even though this is the camera of the future, you will feel right at home.
