The Fair is a fun day offering something for the whole family – all at reasonable prices! This is also an important fundraiser for our 55+ programs. You can help by attending & shopping & by donating any gen- tly used jewelry or books. OKTOBERFEST MEAL - LUNCH WITH THE LAW On Friday, October 1, at 12:00 noon we’ll celebrate “Oktoberfest” with a German Luncheon that includes hearty beef stew, potato pancakes, pickled beets with other ethnic options & of course, a special German desert. MEALS ON WHEELS 20TH ANNUAL LASAGNA DINNER – DRIVE THRU: The Annual Meals on Wheels Lasagna Dinner to honor our troops & veterans will be held on Thursday, November 11th, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Community Center. DUE TO COVID, THIS WILL BE A DRIVE-THRU EVENT. The meal will feature Larry Santamaria’s famous vegetable or meat lasagna with salad, bread & dessert. Proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels. Tickets are available at the Community Center office or the GIV office at 310 State Street. Adults $16.00, Children (under 10) $6.00.

FREE “ASK THE NURSE” CLINICS: Our resident VNA nurse is available monthly to provide free blood pressure checks & health coaching on health-related questions. She will have a table in the lunch room on the last Friday of each month when we celebrate our monthly birthdays. Mystery Ice Cream Trip

For our October Mystery Ice Cream Trip we will head to a neighboring town for a unique ice cream treat. You can use chocolate, vanilla or twist custard plus a fresh fruit and a variety of treats to create a sundae, milkshake or “razzle””. “They promise you won’t be disappointed.” There will also be time to shop in their farm market for in-season fresh fruits and vegetables or bakery items, or to visit their farm animals. If you are eating lunch at the Community Center that day you can load the bus when lunch is finished. Those not eating lunch at the Center should meet at St. George Church rear parking lot at 12:20 pm. We expect to return to Guilford approximately 3:30 pm.

$2.00 administrative fee will be collected on the bus. Ice cream is on your own.

GOODBYE TO A DEAR FRIEND: We lost our dear friend Helen Messero, who was 98 years young, last month. Longtime member of the Community Center & resident of Guilford, Helen Hart-Valentine Messero, passed away peacefully at home with her son & daughter-in-law in Buckley, WA on September 7, 2021 at age 98. She loved attending Barbara Corso’s aerobics class & the ballroom dancing class. She had a huge caring heart & loved people. She was always helping others in any way she could. Helen was a shining light & she will be greatly missed. There will be a memorial service on October 29, 2021 at St. George Church at 10:00am followed by a reception at the VFW on Mill St, Guilford. WISH YOU COULD HAVE JOINED US: 40 seniors enjoyed a wonderful trip on a beautiful day to Massachusetts on Thursday, September 16. The group learned about the Quabbin Reservoir from our knowledgeable step-on guide. The guide explained how this beautiful natural area was created. After the tour the group received a delicious lunch at Salem Cross Inn. The trip was topped off by a stop at Oakwood Farm Christmas Barn where we were able to

purchase some amazing & unique Christmas ornaments & decorations.
