DESCRIPTION
Helen Richards Quilts is a small business designing and making contemporary quilts and homewares, my designs are simple, stylish, vibrant and perfect for modern homes and lives. My collections include: Play quilts, throws and full sized quilts, cushion covers, table mats and table runners. My work is handcrafted by myself as either one off pieces or in short production runs. My designs are made from natural materials – cotton, bamboo and wool fabrics. I create original fabrics for my homewares collection using a range of printing techniques, patchwork, appliqué and quilting. My aim is to create objects that are a pleasure to look at and use for many years to come.

Helen Richards Quilts is a small business designing and making
contemporary quilts and homewares, my designs are simple,
stylish, vibrant and perfect for modern homes and lives.
My collections include: Play quilts, throws and full sized quilts,
cushion covers, table mats and table runners.
My work is handcrafted by myself as either one off pieces or in
short production runs.
My designs are made from natural materials – cotton, bamboo
and wool fabrics. I create original fabrics for my homewares
collection using a range of printing techniques, patchwork,
appliqué and quilting.
My aim is to create objects that are a pleasure to look at and use
for many years to come.

Pebble Beach #3
The Pebble Beach #3 collection beautifully
combines the distinctive style of Japanese
textiles with fresh contemporary design, to
create textiles with subtle colours, lyrical
shapes and intricate free quilting.
The collection pieces are beautiful, visually
rich and a talking point for any room.
The textiles are made in three stages; the first
is discharge printing of Japanese fabrics to
create the first layer of the design.
The second is to hand cut collage fabric
shapes which are heat sealed to textile.
The last stage is the assembly of the textile
layers, then the free motion quilting.
Each piece is made to order and so sizes can
be tailored to requirements.
The fabrics are 100% cotton Japanese cotton
and quilter’s cottons and cotton / polyester
batting.

After the Rains
After the Rains the streets are covered in gum
leaves, glistening and bright. In this collection
I have tried to capture this sparkling
moment , so that it could last for just a little
longer and be a favourite and special object in
a home.
The leaf designs are original lino prints which
have been printed onto cotton fabric, then
quilted with intricate and organic free motion
quilting, to create a beautiful and subtly
textured surface.
The fabrics are 100% cotton and the batting is
a cotton/ polyester blend.

Making Ends Meet
The timeless patchwork tradition lies at the
heart of this collection, where precious pieces
of fabric are used to create useful and
beautiful objects: making a house into warm
inviting home.
The combination of fabrics creates visually
relaxed, fun and comfortable homewares,
modern classics, which fit beautifully into any
home.
The fabrics are 100% cotton and cotton
blends. The batting is a cotton/ polyester
blend.
Each piece is made to order and so sizes can
be tailored to requirements.

Urchin Cove
The Urchin Cove range is a whimsical
collection combining the beauty of Japanese
textiles with muted colours, lyrical shapes and
intricate free quilting, making textiles that are
fun, subtle and charming.
Each piece is visually rich & appealing and a
room statement piece.
The pieces are created in three stages; the
first is stencil printing the fabric with soft
pebble shapes, then fabric collage with hand
cut fabric pieces are scattered across the
design, in preparation for the quilt assembly
and free motion quilting.
Each piece in this collection is an original work
and is made to order and so sizes can be
tailored to requirements.
The fabrics are 100% cotton and the batting is
a cotton/polyester blend.

The strong organic shapes nestle together
creating a beautiful tactile surface, which you

The pieces are created by stencil printing
using a range of painting techniques to create
a range of subtle organic textures that
compliment and highlight the scattered
pebble shapes.
The textiles are made into a range of products
that are each a room statement piece.
The fabrics are 100% cotton and the batting is
a cotton/polyester blend.
