My husband Deane and I got our first pedigree Bull Terrier in
1986 at which point we joined the Auckland Bull Terrier Club (now
the North Island Bull Terrier Club) and started showing. We bred
our first litter under the Boromir prefix in 1989 and are still
actively breeding although not as often. I have been involved at
all levels of administration for the North Island Bull Terrier Club
since joining and received a life membership in 2007.
Our first major show successes were in 1993 when Ch Boromir Miss
Venomous won Best in Show at the Canterbury Bull Terrier Club under
David Harris, and the following week her sister Ch Boromir War of
the Roses was Best in Show at the Auckland Bull Terrier Club under
Anna Harris.
Since then our Bull Terriers have done consistently well,
winning 50 specialty best in shows, and 29 specialty runner up in
shows to date. 23 of them have achieved a Recognition of Merit
award.
We work with other kennels both in New Zealand and around the
world in order to further our breeding program. Without them it
would be difficult to continue.
In 2012 we bred our first two Miniature Bull Terrier litters,
using the New Zealand Kennel Club interbreeding protocol. Both
bitches we kept to breed on from achieved Championship and
Recognition of Merit titles with Ch Syrah of Boromir ROM attaining
Reserve Best in Show against the Bull Terriers at the first show to
cater for the Minis. Nine minis to date have achieved their ROM
titles. Influential Bull Terriers in our kennel have included:
(BISS) Ch Boromir Body Paint ROM - dam of two ROM’s and seven
champions (RISS) Ch Quest Yggdrazil at Boromir ROM (Imp Norway) -
dam of Am/Can/Aust/NZ Ch Boromir Quicksilver ROM, Ch Boromir
Bootleg ROM and Ch Boromir Metalmorphosis. (BIS, BISS) Ch Boromir
Quicksilver ROM has gone on to sire ROM’s and champions in New
Zealand, Australia and America. Ch Boromir Satyricon ROM – 4 x
speciality BIS sire of three ROMs and five champions Ch Boromir
Witch Queen ROM – 4 x specialty BIS, dam of Ch Boromir Skyclad ROM
Ch Boromir Chianti ROM – 5 x specialty BIS, dam of two ROMs and
three champions
And the current team: Ch Boromir Skyclad ROM - 6 x speciality
BIS Ch Boromir Hand of Fate at Vortex ROM - 4 specialty BIS
I am licensed by Dogs NZ (New Zealand Kennel Club) to judge the
Terrier Group at Championship level. I am also approved by the Bull
Terrier Club of America, the National Bull Terrier Council of
Australia and the NZROM to award 'Recognition of Merit' points. I
have been very fortunate to judge in Australia, America, Sweden and
New Zealand, with judging the Country Competition in Holland in
