HEC-RAS 5.0
Workshop
The full release of HEC-RAS 5.0 is here! Come learn about the new 2D modeling features from industry renowned experts in this 2.5 day, hands-on training.
in conjunction with the
This intensive 2.5-day workshop will teach you use the newest version of the Hydrologic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS)
software package for modeling two-dimensional (2-D) unsteady flow applications. You will learn how to approach and construct a 2-D model for
unsteady flow conditions, as well as effectively view and analyze results.
Agenda Summary:
Certificates of Completion will be awarded
to class members who complete the class.
The class will qualify for 15 Professional
Development Hours (PDHs).
Experience with unsteady modeling using HEC-
RAS is highly recommended but not required for
class participants.

Hands-on Training with Industry Experts
Raymond Walton, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE is the Lead Hydraulic Engineer for WEST Consultants, Inc. He has 40 years of experience
directing water resources studies throughout the US and abroad. He is a nationally-recognized expert in multi-dimensional modeling of
surface water, groundwater and water quality systems. Prior to joining WEST, he worked at the Hydraulics Research Station in the UK,
taught at North Carolina State University, and spent 15 years with large nationwide consulting engineering firms. He has written about
100 professional and conference papers in the fields of hydraulics, environmental engineering, groundwater and surface water hydrology,
and instructs HEC-RAS nationwide. He has worked with ASCE and ASTM committees on Environmental Software and wetlands monitoring
developments, and reviews technical papers for several ASCE journals. Dr. Walton chaired ASCE’s International Water Resources Conference in Seattle in August
1999, was the Technical Chair for the 2005 ASCE/EWRI conference in Anchorage, and the chair the 2014 ASCE/EWRI Congress in Portland, Oregon.
J. Paul Rinehimer, PhD is senior engineering staff with WEST Consultants with over 10 years of experience in computational hydraulics, sediment transport, and coastal engineering. He specializes in multidimensional modeling with experience in 2-D floodplain, water quality, and inlet stability studies and 3-D models of estuarine hydrodynamics and sediment transport. In addition to HEC-RAS, he has taught university-level course in Fluid Mechanics and Open Channel Flow. He holds a doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Washington.
Led By HEC-RAS Experts
Chad Cormack, PE, CFM has experience with various dynamic and 2-D modeling software packages for both detailed analysis and
design. He has used 2-D modeling for FEMA watershed studies, drainage master plans, site plan approval, transportation drainage design,
detention pond design, and flood mitigation studies. Chad holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree from
the University of Alaska; both in civil engineering.
