Lately, triathlon has been shaken down by a doping case. Indeed, we’ve learnt with a big disappointment the positive control of the French athlete José Jeuland to metenolone, an anabolic. The long distance specialist has been suspended for three years by the AFLD.

Bad news? For sports and passionate people, yes.

But the fact that there is doping in triathlon, one of the most exigent sports which requires endurance and resistance, is not a surprise in itself. This positive control is even rather a «good news», in any case a good signal sent to cheaters. Even if controls are not always efficient, it shows to those who decided to toggle in the murky side that they can be caught at any time. Word to the wise.

At TrimaxHebdo, we’ve decided to speak about triathlon and passion in an edition with Ironman colors mostly.

Highlighting the pros doesn’t prevent us from talking to you who begin triathlon about drafting.

Finally, regarding material, we have a special file about wetsuits, in addition to the Cervélo S5 and Slice Cannondale testings.

And many other articles to discover.

Anyway, we have again a very rich edition with a lot of sports. Real sports.

The essential races :

In 2015 there will be 5 IRONMAN regional championships, which will give 4000 KPR points KPR (Kona Pro Ranking) to the winners of the event. Regarding the other Ironman events, they will give 2000 points to the winners.

For the WTC, there is the will to gather more pro athletes in a single event, which means to increase the number of regional championships, and these races will attract a greater number of pros and they will avoid racing too much and too far. It is difficult to do more than 3 Ironman a year at a very good level and above all to be performant in October in Kona if we race in August. Triathletes who did a top 10 at the last World Championships last year have the benefit of only racing one Ironman to qualify for the next world championships. They can also build on a single race, as Bockel did in 2014 in Melbourne.

A victory at a P-4000 almost guarantees the qualification, especially as winners on P-4000 are already well-placed at the KPR.

The race for points is difficult for pro athletes because they have to be fitted on D-day and it also requires a financial investment.

The regional championships

This year the first IRONMAN support of a regional title will be the Ironman Melbourne for Asia-Pacific, on March 22nd. This event gathers Australian and New-Zealand who race at home. Moreover, this date marks the end of their summer, the ideal moment! Beside, it is not rare that a few Europeans go to Australia. There, long distance triathlon is very popular and offers lots of WTC and Challenge races.IM South-Africa will be the African regional

championships only one week after Melbourne, the African and European will be more numerous on this event which is closer. If an athlete has a bad race in Melbourne he will always have the opportunity to go to South-Africa on March 29th. We’ll have two big events in two weeks with impressive «Start Lists». In May, let’s go to the American continent with the American championships: in North in

in the IRONMAN planet

This year promises again beautiful shows and a few races with a very strong field as it will certainly be the case on the 5 regional cham-

pionships events which have 4000 points for the KPR. The first meeting is in Melbourne on the 22nd of March before South Africa one

week later. On the South-African event, a lot of French have decided to come and race... Trimax-Hebdo will be there to make you live this

Texas on May 16th, instead of Mont-Tremblant as a P-4000 and 15 days later the IM of Latin America in Brasilia in Florianopolis on May 31st. Two events which will gather the athletes of the continent and those who would have failed in March...The novelty for this 2015 calendar is to see events with so many points with only one week gap such as Melbourne/South Africa, or Texas/Brasilia. Finally, Frankfurt will conclude the regional championships on July 5th with a majority of Europeans and above all German athletes who currently dominate the circuit. The European tour

In Europe, again a very abundant circuit, beginning with Lanzarote in Canaries on May 23rd, then IM

Nice, an essential race on June 28th. On the same day, there will be the IM Klagenfurt in Austria. Then it will be on July 19th with IM Bolton in UK and IM Zurich in Switzerland.

The European Tour will finish for the KPR in August in Holland (on the 2nd), Sweden (15th) and Denmark (23rd). These last three races which counts for the «roll-down» of August won’t have such a strong level.

Review on the KPR

The road is still long for Kona, but it is agreeable to see our French already well-placed: Cyril Viennot 6th and Romain Guillaume 12th of the current

KPR, Denis Chevrot is 28th with 2500 points, knowing that they need at least 4000 points to hope being in the top 50 at the end of August.

Romain Guillaume has already validated his participation for Kona 2015 by finishing 4th in IM Busselton and thus with 4380 points he is almost sure to participate, moreover with Aix and Nice in 2015. For Cyril Viennot, it will also be easy to participate with already 5250 points, he just has to finish an IM. We can trust Denis Chevrot and Jérémy Jurkiewicz to be good in 2015, they are generous with kilometers!!!

Regarding the first of the ranking, it is logical to find those who shined at the end of 2014 on the 70.3 world championships of Mont Tremblant and in Kona. They begin the season calmly and will just have to finish an IM to validate their qualification, such as the former winners Van Lierde, Alexander, Jacobs,...

On the other hand, some athletes of this tem-

porary ranking won’t be contenders to Kona, such as Gomez who wants to do RIO in 2016, or Micheal Realert who struggles on this dis-tance, or Will Clarke who runs on 70.3. Others are in this top because they shined at the end of the season where Start Lists were less strong. They will certainly struggle to hold their rank. Anyway, again a beautiful year on the Ironman cir-cuit...

Small reminder on the KPR : it’s a points ranking which allows professionals who have a WTC license to qualify for the IM World Championships in Kona in Hawaii in October. Each year, 50 men and 35 women are qualified, the first 40 men and first 25 women are defined at the end of July. The draftingThis month, we are explaining the notion of drafting...

By Jacvan, photos jacvan@copyrights

Rubric information : Are you a beginner in triathlon? This rubric is for you! Every month we will explain a point of regulation or a very used expression in triathlon. You will be able to follow and participate to conversations between triathletes and then look like an old veteran of triathlon and not like a novice!

TRIhebdo 19

It is possible, after a triathlon, that you hear a conversation between triathletes during which you hear one of them complaining to

«get the wheel sucked» during the whole bike part. This expression means that the authorized dis-tances between athletes hasn’t been respected and that, as a result, there has been drafting.

The drafting, also called «aspiration-shed», consists in riding close enough behind another competitor, a group of competitors, or even a car, in order to take advantage of the aerodynamic phenomenon of aspiration.

It has been proven that this aspiration could be fundamental because a good position «protec-ted» could allow an economy of energy estimated between 10 to 40% depending on the strength and orientation of the wind. Indeed, this is why in bike

races, the peloton is always faster than a lonely bi-ker. When the drafting is permitted, as on Grand-Prix races, for example, groups get organized and competitors relay (it means that bikers lead the group the one after the others in order to allow each other to take advantage of the aspiration) in order to make this organized peloton faster and stronger. However, triathlon is an individual sports based on the notion of surpassing oneself. The victory in triathlon must be the reward of the lonely triath-lete, without any outside help.

The WTC regulation (Ironman) specifically forbids drafting

The athlete must respect the rule of Aspiration-Shed (7x3m) : the minimal distance between bikes is 7m, between the front wheel of the bike and the front wheel

The draftingSHEET

01

Page 11: TRIhebdohebdo 11 Texas on May 16th, instead of Mont-Tremblant as a P-4000 and 15 days later the IM of Latin America in Brasilia in Florianopolis on May 31st. Two events which will

of the bike which follows. Not respecting this rule brings about a black card corresponding to a a time penalty (6 minutes on IM).

The athlete will have to stop in the next penalty box in order to do his penalty (black card=6 mi-nutes ; 2 black cards = 12 minutes ; 3 black cards = disqualification).

The athlete who has been passed must keep a distance in order to respect the minimum space of 7m once the front wheel of the passing ath-lete has passed him. When a competitor is passed by another one, he is responsible for exiting the drafting zone and keep a 7m distance. A competitor is passed when the front wheel of another athlete goes ahead of his one.

On Challenge races, some events announces a distance of non-aspiration at 10m when others are at 15m. It seems that on the events in the Emirates, the standards would be 20m. As on most long distance events, the offender triath-letes scoop of a 5 minute-penalty.

There is theory that we’ve just presented to you... And practice unfortunately very diffe-rent... Because of those triathletes who want to take advantage of aspirations... ... Or unlucky are those who find themselves in a group against their will, because of the busy periods on some races when roads are not wide enough. We will let you judge by yourself on this point with your own experience.

TRIhebdo20 TRIhebdo 21

there are some triathlons which authorize drafting but riding in peloton remains an exception.

teThe method launched by Dr. Delabos since 1986 is more and more famous

especially in sports. While some have adopted this method daily, some others

only use it in «emaciation» period. Finally, more radical, the diet stater

launched by the doctor uses the chrono-nutrition principles in an accelerated

way for those who don’t want to waste time but who have a very strong mental

and determination. Trimax-hebdo offers to present you the main principles of

the chrono-nutrition in 10 points.

The chrono-nutritionwhat is it ?

The chrono-nutrition offers to feed you according to the nutritional needs of your body. Then, you don’t need the same things at 7am when you begin your day than at 8pm when you’ll go to bed. You will feed accor-ding to your biological clock: fat for break-fast (bread and cheese), dense for lunch (meat and carbs), sweet for snacking (cho-colate and fruits) and light for diner (fish and vegetables). and except some types of food, everything is permitted (cheese, carbs, fruits, chocolate, any type of meat, and so on) as far as you respect the time and quan-tities you eat.

For who ?Chrono-nutrition is for everybody. The triathlete can perfectly follow this way of eating in order to reach his fighting weight.

This diet being diversified (few prohibited food), the athlete has all the energetic in-takes needed adapted to his practice and doesn’t feel any tiredness, generally linked to a hypo-caloric diet.

Control your weight without being hungry

Chrono-nutrition is not planned to make you loose some weight in a record time (ex-cept the starter diet) but it offers to reba-lance your diet according to your morpholo-gy. Quantities are determined according to your height and your physical activity (with more important proportions is you have a physical activity).

Chrononutrition & morphotype

Chrono-nutrition equals morphotype. Your diet influences your sil-houette. Then you should know that some foods will have more impact in some parts of your body according to your morphology. Carbs in-fluences your belly, whereas vegetables are attached more easily to your hips.

You can determine your morphotype by mea-suring your size, your chest, waist and hips

girth, your wrist width and your weight. De-pending on the result, your will be able to see what your diet mistakes are.

Weight and silhouette

The method offers to reach your figh-ting weight (get thinner if you’re above or grow if you’re under) but also to rebalance your silhouette. The method allows to re-balance the silhouette, which doesn’t ob-viously mean to loose weight.

Duration

This method is efficient in the duration. You progressively rebalance but the results will be better integrated and you won’t un-dergo the effects of «yo-yo diets» by im-posing weight variations which are bad for your body and your physical fitness. For those who don’t have the patience to wait, Dr. DELABOS has taken the great principles of chrono-nutrition by adapting

them to an express method. He offers you to loose up to 8 kg in 4 weeks. Contrary to chrono-nutrition which can be done every-time, the starter diet mustn’t be lon-ger than a month. And even if you haven’t reached your fighting weight after a mon-th, you’ll have to wait before beginning again a new cycle in order to allow to your body not to undergo the damaging effects of a diet (tiredness, muscle loss, and so on). This very restrictive method breaks a little bit with the concept of chrono-nutrition.

Diet or not diet?

For some of you, once we have to respect some diet rules, we follow a diet. If we have this point of view, indeed, chrono-nutri-tion means diet.

Page 14: TRIhebdohebdo 11 Texas on May 16th, instead of Mont-Tremblant as a P-4000 and 15 days later the IM of Latin America in Brasilia in Florianopolis on May 31st. Two events which will

For some others, the notion is linked to pri-vation and even frustration. Hypo-caloric diets forbids chocolate, cheese, fries, and so on. In chrono-nutrition, there are few forbidden foods (the main forbidden food is milk and dairy products such as yogurts, except cheese), so there’s no privation.

The notion of pleasure

This method is based on the 0% frustra-tion. Each week, chrono-nutrition allows two «joker meals». They represent a diet liberty moment during which you can for-get all the principles of chrono and eat whatever you want.

Under supervisionBeware, chrono-nutrition will break with the diet habits of modern life: finishing your meal with a desert, eating a dairy pro-duct at every meal... Moreover, you should have a medical supervision if you suffer from some pathologies.

Don’t begin it without thinking...

Be sure that you’ve understood the prin-ciples of chrono-nutrition. You will be able to adapt it according to your daily life.

1/ PriceA good wetsuit costs between 280€ and 350€ . The difference of price is situated in the quality, in the design and in marketing.

The premium models are made in a hight quality neoprene (G40) but, as a result, are also very fra-gile. The more we go down in the price and the less elastic the neoprene will be ; it will also be thinner with seams and a collage sometimes fragile, thus less resistant.

The good price often gives you the ideal quality: Good design with a resistant and meanwhile elas-tic neoprene.

A good triathlon wetsuit must be sun and sea water resistant, it must keep its initial strength as long as possible.Don’t take a neoprene wetsuit too spongy, because it will be very fragile and elastic, it will quickly loose its compression and easily rip when you put it on.

2/ The size You mustn’t wear a wetsuit tightened to the body, but close to the body. You have to make the diffe-rence. And always try it if possible with a tri-suit under.

3/ The neoprene quality A good elastic and resistant neoprene works with time and heat. A good wetsuit shapes after 2 or 3 intense swim sessions in the swimming-pool. The body heat which rises in the wetsuit during an intense effort will thermo-mold the neoprene during the first sessions.

4/ Neckline Check the collar so that it doesn’t strangle you, and that the velcro doesn’t burst your skin when you turn your head on the side or up.

5/Design Choose a wetsuit in which you feel like a su-per-swimmer! It is also very important !!

As he’s a real perfectionist, Tyler leaves nothing to chance, especially when it’s about optimizing his Cervelo P5.

«On my handlebar, I use a system with two reversed bottle-holders. It is I think the only difference that I have compared to the others, for anything else, I think that we all work to have an aero and comfortable position, and which allows us to develop all our power!»

This system allows to Tyler to bring his two bottles without any impact on the air penetration. Thus he could remove the bottle-holder situated on the diagonal tube, the one which induces the most turbulences. Tyler has also gone a little bit further, by putting a carbon sheet under his extensions, which makes the whole thing very homogenous, and allows him to win some more watts.

But in addition to this aerodynamic contribution, Tyler finds a convenient aspect to his trick:

«This hydration system allows me to have all my bottles and gels directly under my eyes! Thus I can catch them quickly and very easily, and I directly see what I will take, and what I have left. It’s really more convenient to be able to directly catch what we want or need.»

The only interrogation that we could have on this system is the heavier weight on the

handlebar. Tyler doesn’t seem to complain about it, his third place in Nice this year with this system makes us think that there was no problem to negotiate technical downhills of the course.

«I think it perfectly works for me. But here is the key! Find what is best for yourself.»

We will add that you obviously have to take your time during training to try different material solutions, especially on the bike. Those who would like to fix a similar system on their bike must have tried it for many hours during training, no question of doing this kind of modifications on race day!

«All the best, good training and good 2015 season to all the readers of Trimax Hebdo, Tyler B.»

Designed for speed

Cervélo is a pioneer regarding aerodynamic bikes. The S series is designed for efficiency and comfort in order to make you faster. The accent on aerodynamics is visible in every aspects of the design, the place of the tubes TrueAero TM and the bottle supports.

Once on the bike, its efficiency to transmit all your power to the road will encourage you to accelerate until the road looks fuzzy. This performance doesn’t recede in the uphills. It links lightness and rigidity. But speed also includes comfort, as well in the design of the carbon composite layers as in the energy saved thanks to aerodynamics, which will allow you to stay in a zone where you feel comfortable.

Presentation Cervélo S5

What is there in the aerodynamics conception ?

The elegant design of the S5 looks a lot like the P series, also the expanded cut of the saddle tube. The oblique tube lowered to the profiling shrouds, all the shapes of the frame are designed to have an optimal air flow on the bike and the rider. Even the place of the bottle holder has been redesigned to make this frame faster with a bottle or two. Add the BBright technology and you will have the best of the aerodynamics engineering with a maximum control and stability.

If I should have only one bike, it would be a Cervélo S5! It is light, aero, comfortable, and responds to UCI standards for road races and time trials. The S5 is very aero, it can even be used on a time trial without penalizing you. I’ve even already used a S5 on races without drafting after the 2012 London Olympic Games, when I didn’t have yet my Cervélo P5. Obviously, a real

TT bike will be a little bit more aero, but mainly thanks to its geometry and a better aerodynamic position. Doing road races, ITU triathlons or without drafting with a S5 (with a time trial style: disc wheel and extensions), has always been a true pleasure, always fun and always fast!

Why a new S5 ?

Last year, the VWD S5 had been recognized as the fastest aero road bike by a prestigious German magazine: the best bike ever tested. Yet, Cervélo engineers have designed this year a new version of this S5. It takes the main aerodynamics qualities of the classical S5, and it improves rigidity and steering. This new version is made of components unique to Cervélo, as the new carbon aero handlebar, the mounting of Hed Jet 6 Plus SCT wheels, making this new S5 faster than ever! More rigid, an improved ergonomics, no weight gain! Compared to the S VWD, the new S5 is 35% more rigid in torsion, and 6%

more rigid in the bottom bracket. The result: a very precise bike in the trajectories, the contact between the cyclist, the bike and the road is improved. The new S5 has a geometry comparable to a classical road bike model, but with a shortened head-tube, in order to be able to place the cyclist lower. A new «Future Proof Cable» cabling system allows to make the frame totally compatible with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic groups. The battery of electrical groups is directly integrated in one of the frame tubes. Finally, we have an aerodynamic bike, with all the rigidity of the best classical road bikes and without adding any weight!

Dropped Down TubeThe perfect position of the oblique tube preserves the drag of the system, taking into account the interaction between the front wheel and the frame.

Shielding Seat Stays

Protect the back brake from the wind, not from the cyclist. Profiled shrouds hide the brake and improve the air flow on the stirrup.

Partial Seat Tube CutoutThe expanded cut which allows to optimize the air flow between the frame and the wheel, and one of the most important reductions of aerodynamic drag.Extended Seat Tube CutoutHiding the back wheel behind the frame can considerably reduce the drag. An efficient use of the cut requires a true expertise of the aerodynamics.

On the road

Even before sitting on this bike, it is impres-sive. The tubes of the frame are massive, pro-filed, this matt black dress reinforces even more this feeling of aggressiveness. Moreover, Cervélo has given us the very high quality ver-sion for this test, we could speak about luxury! Durace Di2 group, and wonderful 60mm Hed Jet 6 Plus SCT wheels which look very good with this S5. When we look at the work done on the frame aerodynamics, it would be a pity not to have a pretty high and profiled pair of wheels. Anyway, there is no mistake, every-thing is perfectly harmonious on this bike. And this visual harmony is nothing compared to what’s happening on the road! Once we be-gin to ride, we feel that the bike only wants to accelerate. The frame, the wheels, the arch, nothing moves, the bike seems to be mounted on tracks. The feeling is incredible, the air whistles around us, giving the impression of splitting the air. Even if it’s not the most important for an ae-rodynamic bike, this new S5 is very light. It is also very rigid, the oversized bottom bracket doesn’t move, even of strong restarts. Low weight and maximal rigidity, restarts are easy and strong, the bike responds right away, even a gear ration mistake is quickly compensated. At least as long as you have the legs. The feeling is so heady on this bike, that you will always

want to accelerate and restart. It’s a bike with no concession, it requires engagement, and it makes you want to give it everything. Be care-ful then, you will have to know how to control it, and curb your impulses in order to last lon-ger. In parallel, in addition to its gamester and aggressive temperament, this S5 also knows how to be very tender. The comfort is good, the frame seems to perfectly filter the small imperfections of the road. This bike will satis-fy you on longer distances, provided that you control it. Last point, you can feel this extreme rigidity when you ride. Nothing moves, as if it was one only piece. The S5 seems to be a perfect pro-longation of your body on the road, you can take it exactly where you want. The precision of this Cervélo is the turns is wonderful, it responds to all your moves ins-tantaneously. The Durace Di2 group is great, everybody knows it, but the brake stirrups of the last Shimano are powerful and precise. It gives a real feeling of security to this new S5, we can even take more risks than usual in downhills. «Pilots» will have a dreadful weapon for fast and technical downhills.

We cannot end this experience without spea-king about the new Cervélo handlebar. The lat-ter is designed and aerodynamic. Its compact shape makes it comfortable to use, whether

you have your hands up or down the handle-bar. If you want to climb up a hill with your hands up the handlebar, you have to get used to it, personally this handlebar is a little bit too large for our small hands to be completely at ease in this position. However, it’s not a very common position with this kind of bikes. Also note that it will be impossible to fix the exten-sions on this handlebar, those who would like to add extensions to this new S5 will have to think about changing the handlebar.

Conclusion

We are falling in love with this new Cervélo S5! It is incredible. As we were lucky enough to ride on a P5, this road bike procures the same feeling of velocity and pleasure as a P5, with comfort, lightness and maneuverability in ad-dition.

We simply think that this bike is good for eve-rything. Its weight, rigidity, dynamism will be appreciated on short distance or drafting races. Its aerodynamics, its comfort, its weight make it perfect for every long distance races without drafting where you can’t use the TT bike. Moreover, if you add extensions it could frighten some bikes purely dedicated to time trials.

In order to get this jewel, you’ll have to count 8800€. But we have here the «luxurious» ver-sion of this bike, because we can also find more affordable mountings:- S5 Dura Ace di2, 8800€- S5 Dura Ace ; 6800€- S5 Ultegra, 4600€- S5 frame only, 3800€

Introduction

With the launch of this new Slice, Cannondale upsets a few habits regarding bicycles. It’s neither a road bike, nor a TT bike, which are yet two different kinds of bikes whom we usually hear about.

No, Cannondale presents this year a triathlon bike, and it’s something pretty rare to see a product specifically thought for the triple effort. A triathlete on a triathlon bike, instead of a triathlete who adapts to a TT bike, is there a real difference?

MATERIAL TESTING

AERO SAVE micro suspension system:

Comfort = speed. The (UCI non-approved) ultra-thin seat stays Naero Tech and the curved bases Aero Plane, are not only Aero, but also offers an unequaled level of comfort. Coupled with the Offset Aero Save fork, the majority of the road imperfections is filtered, for a maximum comfort and control on long distances.

Ballistec Ultraligth Carbon Frame

Cannondale has used for this new Slice the same carbon technology as for their Supersix EVO model, allowing them to create a very light frame and fork. According to Cannondale, the New Slice is a triathlon bike which climbs better and accelerate better than many traditional road bikes.

MATERIAL TESTING

Real Triathlon Geometry

The brand new geometry of this Slice is the result of thousands of datas compiled by their partner Fit Science, Guru. The acquired design places the rider more centered on his bike, while keeping an optimal aero position for the best stability, precision, and ownership.

TRIhebdo60 TRIhebdo 61

Functional

Finding a position which offers comfort, aerodynamics and power is crucial for a triathlete. The new Slice has an ultra-closed saddle tube angle and a shorter crank, in order to place the rider lower in front, while keeping an optimal hip angle, for more power and an easier transition to the run.

Tubes Tap

The tubes TAP (Truncated Aero Profile) shape offers the perfect compromise between aerodynamics, rigidity and low weight. They are also thinner and offer less surface for more control under the wind.

WindTunnel Pressure drag reduction Tunnel

The saddle tube runs the air in an intelligent way towards the back wheel. The wind-tunnel duct on the back of the saddle tube reduces the pressure drag created by the accumulation of air between the wheel in movement and the frame.

A design made to last

Shimano brakes in direct mount, traditional stem, cable passage simplified and back pow of vertical fixation. All these elements make this new Slice an easy bike to carry, to mount, to configure, and can save you a lot of time of preparation before a race. All the frames of the range are compatible with mechanic groups and Di2, with the possibility to place the battery in the frame.

On the road

Even before using this bike, we must confess one thing! What a simplicity of adjustment, we could even forget how easy the mechanics of a bike can be easy. So yes, integrated stems, integrated brakes, cable passages, and so on... are very nice, very refined, but are sometimes very difficult to mount, to preserve, or simply to change your position.

Settling your bike is thus very fast, and also the time of adaptation. We instantaneously feel comfortable on the handlebar, as if we have already been using it for several months. Even on a very low speed, the bike is handy, there is no limitation of turning angle as on some TT bikes. We also feel its lightness, it’s easy to restart the bike, to accelerate. It’s simple, after a few kilometers to go out of the city, we had already forgotten that we were on a new bike, and even more on a TT bike. We wouldn’t have been more at ease with our usual road bike.

Finally, when we arrived in some nice rolling home stretches, in order to try the machine in an aero position. To tell the truth, the feeling is pretty frustrating when we are used to riding on pure machines of time-trial.

Actually, everything seems easy, even too easy.

Once again, we don’t have the feeling to be on a bike made for time-trial, the position is comfortable legs turn with facility, without «struggling» with the bike.

Even the feeling is misleading, we don’t have the same landmarks as usual, we don’t hear the wind whistling. And yet, the speed is the same as usual. This new Slice, it’s a «quiet strength», it doesn’t have an impetuous temperament such as other competitors, but in the end the performance is here.

It’s when we get to the first climbs that this new Slice makes the difference: what a facility, what a comfort. All along the climb, we forget that we are on a triathlon bike, the restarts, the weight, the feeling, make us think that we are on a classical road bike. And the feeling stays the same when we go down, this new Slice is very handy, the braking is excellent with the Shimano direct mount brake calipers, we feel secure.

To resume, this new Slice, it’s for us the performances of a TT bike with the feeling of a road bike. In some ways, it’s the ideal bike for those who hesitate every time between the one or the other. It’s certainly the ideal bike for a mountainous and technical Ironman as Nice !

Michelle VesterbyI simply love the new Cannondale Slice firstly because it is easy to handle in the turns, it’s very light and comfortable and ALSO very fast!! And for me who travels a lot, it is easy to carry around.

Victor Del CorralThe bike you will test in the next days is highlighted especially for three things:

- Comfort: the measurements of this new frame along with the Aero SAVE Micro-Suspension System makes this bike super-comfortable. - Lightness: the frame is only 1020 gr. and you feel this lightness while you’re riding, especially when you are climbing, sometimes you could even forget that you’re riding on a TT Bike. - Handling: low center of gravity, slack head angle and good brakes for a TT Bike which can be handled as a road bike on winding roads.

It’s the kind of bike that you could use every day for training whatever route you plan to do. See you soon...#2015FreeLaceReborn
