These release notes include instructions for HEAT Service and Support, HEAT Self Service, and HEAT Web-Based Call Logging. HEAT Release 9.7.6 Installation Instructions For detailed instructions on installation and system requirements, refer to the HEAT Installation Guide. You can also

go to the HEAT Software Support Site and download the installation guide from http://www.HEATSoftware.com/Support. We recommend that you review the HEAT Installation Guide and the HEAT Client/Server Products Compatibility Matrix before beginning the installation process. These documents describe system requirements and operating system and database system compatibility with HEAT products. The documentation for this release is in English.

HEAT Release 9.7.6 Installation – New Customers

Special Steps for Customers on Windows 8 and 8.1 or Windows Server 2012

You must enable the Microsoft .Net Framework Release 3.5 for the HEAT Release 9.7.6 installation to run. This feature has been enabled by default for all operating systems versions through Windows 7. However, in Windows 8 and 8.1 and Windows Server 2012, this feature is now disabled by default. Before installing HEAT Release 9.7.6, this feature must be enabled. For instructions, search for “install .net framework 3.5” on www.msdn.microsoft.com.

The above steps require Internet access to complete.

The HEAT Release 9.7.6 installation program displays step-by-step instructions for installing HEAT program files, demo FLS data, and report files. To begin the installation process, do the following:

1. Close any open applications. 2. Double-click the HEAT.exe file. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

You will also need to set up an ODBC data source using the System DSN tab to point to your database. For clients running on a 64-bit operating system, the ODBC source must be created using the 32-bit ODBC admin (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe). For detailed instructions, refer to the HEAT Installation Guide. For Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 8.1 users, after the installation finishes, set the HEAT applications to “run as administrator” by modifying the properties on the Start menu shortcuts.

HEAT Release 9.7.6 Installation – Existing Customers The HEAT Release 9.7.6 installer automatically upgrades all installed components to HEAT Release 9.7.6. See the Upgrade Compatibility section on page 7 for supported operating system and version compatibility. Contact HEAT Software Support if you are upgrading from a HEAT version previous to HEAT Release 9.0.3. Note: All clients should be on the same version as the server. After upgrading to HEAT Release 9.7.6 from HEAT Release 8.4.5 or later, you must restart the HEAT services, as these services no longer start automatically. Login credentials are set to local system account. You can change the login credentials and startup type from manual to automatic for all or selected services after updating HEAT.

Special Notes

Web UI users: The installer overwrites the web server database configuration file. We recommend that you run the web server database configuration tool after the HEAT installation finishes. As an alternative to running the configuration tool, you can copy the following file to a location outside of the HEAT\WEBUI folder tree before running the install, and replace it after the upgrade is completed. C:\Program Files\HEAT\WEBUI\webapps\HeatWebUI\WEB-INF\classes\main.cfg.xml. If the Web UI and HSS are set up to use SSL security certificate, you also need to back up the SSL folders before the upgrade installs.

HEAT BPAM creates a file in the C:\Windows directory called HEATDefs.log. This file can grow to a large size. As a best practice, we recommend archiving and deleting the HEATDefs.log file periodically (the period depends on growth rate), either manually or with a scheduled batch task.

HEAT Release 9.7.6 Compatibility with Microsoft Exchange 2010 There are known compatibility issues between Microsoft Exchange 2010 (32-bit) and applications that use MAPI services from previous versions of Microsoft Outlook (such as Microsoft Outlook 2003 and 2007). If you install HEAT Release 9.7.6 on a machine that uses Microsoft Outlook 2003 or 2007, and you are running Microsoft Exchange 2010 (32-bit), you may experience problems with certain areas of HEAT Release 9.7.6. Further information on this issue can be found at: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/stephen_griffin/archive/2011/10.aspx. The following matrix shows compatibility issues:

The MAPI services provided by Microsoft Outlook 2007 work with Microsoft Exchange 2010 if you apply Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP1. Instructions and further information regarding the application of SP1 for Microsoft Exchange 2010 can be found at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2460049. You must also apply update rollup 4 for Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP1. It can be found at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2579150.

About Uninstalling HEAT Release 9.7.6 Uninstalling HEAT Release 9.7.6 removes the entire application from your system.

Known Behaviors

Crystal Reports. HEAT Release 9.7.6 installs Crystal Reports Release 11.5. If you have Crystal Reports Release 12 installed on your system, HEAT Release 9.7.6 uses that instead of Release 11.5. HEAT Release 9.7.6 does not support Crystal Reports releases later than Release 12, in which case HEAT Release 9.7.6 uses Crystal Reports Release 11.5. If you want to use Crystal Reports Release 12 (also known as Crystal Reports 2008), download the free viewer at the following location: http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/crystalviewer/Crystal%20Reports%20Viewer%202008.exe. This viewer can be installed at any time, before or after the HEAT Release 9.7.6 installation.

ATG integration with Lotus Mail. Creating a VIM mail message, and sending the message to the HEAT VIM account creates a new call record; however, the body of the mail message does not populate the description field of the new call record.

Lotus Notes 8.5. This is not supported.
