Lunch, Learn & Play

Our summer program held at the Southern Oaks Clubhouse continues where volunteers from LUMC and the Community Care Club serve a nutritious lunch followed by reading and playing. This program also sends each child home with a bag of food for the family use during the week. It is important to keep children reading over the summer, and of course, eating good food! JOYS Carole Stubblefield thanked God for all the children present for today's worship service and Sunday School. Merle Hughes said that there were eight children for our summer lunch program last Thursday. She and Mary Schutz said that there were wonderful things happening there where we feed the children, read with them and then play games. There is a real spiritual warmth. Tom Jones praised all the hardworking men and women who are help-ing with the construction of the new Fellowship Hall. God bless you all! These volunteers work through the heat and we appreciate it! We also

ask for blessings for those behind the scenes—our financial planners and the AV Com-mittee. Next time you see Van Wagnon, shake his hand and thank him for all of his hard work as our General Contractor. Bill Johnson thanked everyone for their calls of concern when Pam was diagnosed with breast cancer. CONCERNS: Our condolences go to the Kjellsen Family as they mourn the loss of Ron's sister who had recently been put on hospice. God bless her and we pray for peace for the family. Please pray for Jimmy and Leanne Hughes. The couple was on their way to see Leanne's father on Father’s Day when word reached them that he had passed away. Jimmy's father, Avery Hughes, passed away on Wednesday, June 27th. The families need peace of mind and strength as they grieve for their fathers. Janet and Tom Hecker are still recovering from his broken hip and their bee stings. Please pray for them. Michael Bradford's mother, Lanelle House, has a cyst on her heart and needs our prayers. Please keep Walter Landon and his wife in your prayers as they are both suffering with health issues. Continued prayers are requested for Roxie Steinberg who suffers with multiple illnesses. Linda Cline had foot surgery and then took a fall. Pray for her total recovery. Cassie Yarbrough requests prayers for the Cowboy Church of Leon County. In the past year there have been two suicides at the church and the congregation is struggling to deal with them. Please pray for the Family of Billy Copeland. Pam Johnson’s surgery went very well. We pray for continuing good news from her doc-tors concerning her breast cancer. Please keep Charles Garst in your prayers as he relocates his family and finds a new way. Keep us ever mindful, Lord, of the many blessings You have bestowed on us! May we al-ways strive to do Your Will!!
