• Health Services (Hornbeam Road, South Gate of Campus) • Counseling Services (D-216) • Alcohol and/ other Drug Prevention (D-216)

Services are confidential Most services are free

Health Services • Nurse Practitioner based health center • Appointments required • All true medical/trauma emergencies seen IMMEDIATELY

Health Services Continued • Basic medical care including treatment of minor illnesses and

injuries • Education about health issues or health concerns • Specialty clinics: Flu Clinic, Well Women’s Clinic, Allergy Clinic

(Flu Clinic has a fee for service) • Provide tuberculosis skin testing (Fee for service) • Dispense medication for medical illnesses or write a prescription • Provide STI Testing (Fee for Service) • Provide HIV Testing

Common Problems • Viral Upper Respiratory Infections (Colds) / Coughs • Contraceptive Issues / GYN / Emergency Contraception • STI Screening • Pharyngitis (Sore Throat) • Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) • GI Issues

Health Insurance • Health Insurance is not offered through the College.

• Health Insurance is not required to be seen by the medical

staff nor do we bill insurance for visits. Health Service is not enrolled as a provider in any insurance plan.

• Insurance needed for medication at local pharmacies or community medical care.

CVS (Mahwah and Ramsey) Walgreens (Oakland and Ramsey) Oakland Drugs – delivers to campus (Oakland)

Counseling Services • Individual Counseling (Time-Limited)

15 session limit in calendar year from initial appointment 30 sessions max over course of Ramapo enrollment

• Group Counseling (Unlimited) • Educational Programs • Consultations • Psychiatric Services (assessment, symptom stabilization, and

referral) • Emergency Services: during daytime hours and after

hours/overnight and weekends

Common Presenting Problems • Anxiety • Depression • Adjustment Disorders • Relational Problems • Academic Problems • Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse/Dependence • Self-injurious behaviors

Choices Students Face While Transitioning to College

• Nutrition • Exercise • Sleep • Time Management • Emotional Wellness • Sexuality • Alcohol and/other drug use • Autonomy

AlcoholEdu and Haven

• AlcoholEdu for College: Online alcohol prevention program creates a learning experience that clarifies unrealistic expectations about the effects of alcohol, links choices about drinking to academic and personal success, and helps students practice healthier and safer decision-making.

• Haven – Understanding Sexual Assault: Online program

which addresses sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking in order to empower students to create safe, healthy campuses.

Alcohol Edu/Haven Dates: • Students will begin Part I:

• Tuesday, August 1, 2017

• Part I MUST be completed by Thursday, August 31, 2017

• 45 days after completing Part I (October 13, 2017),

student receives email to now complete the rest of Alcohol Edu & Haven

• Objective: To save lives and acknowledge that student health and welfare are essential.

• The Good Samaritan Policy applies to students who seek medical attention for themselves or students seeking help for another intoxicated individual (ALCOHOL AND/OR OTHER DRUGS). Medical attention includes an assessment by first-responders.
