A diet plan that has no carbohydrates is what a lot of people think is the best way to go.

There are dozens of diets, including South Beach, Atkins, and others, that believe the reason

you cannot lose weight is because of eating carbohydrates. This is pretty much something

that is not true. You need to eliminate the bad carbohydrates, but keep eating the good

carbohydrates. The trick is to keep away from those that are bad and to eat a moderate

amount of those that are good. When you need help coming up with the right diet plan, seek

out a good nutritionist to do it for you. To give you a little help in getting started out, here are

some helpful hints.

Try using cauliflower instead of rice. If you're looking for a healthy low carb food, cauliflower

is an excellent choice. While ordinary rice takes at least twenty minutes to cook, cauliflower

can be cooked in about half that time. The amount of time it would normally take you to cook

a rice based dish will take a tiny portion of the same time if you use grated cauliflower. So

don't just use cauliflower as a vegetable on the side, but try using it in recipes that use rice -

you won't be disappointed. The only drawback is that cauliflower is typically more expensive

than rice. Yet it's a superb and versatile vegetable that you may want to start using more

often.

Don't forget about salads. There are lots of different types of salads out there so it's easy to

find a salad that either fills you up completely or compliments your entree as a side dish. One

factor you can't overlook with salads is the dressing, and this requires you to be aware.

If you use lots of dressing that's high in fat and calories, you're undoing the benefits of eating

all those greens. Choose low fat salad dressings and use them moderately. There are almost

no limits to what you can do with salads and dressings if you're creative, so find out about all

the kinds of salads there are.

One typical result of going on a low carb diet is that you tend to eat a large amount of meat.

Some kinds of meat are much better for you than others, so you should learn how to make

this distinction. Consuming lots of steaks and fried chicken, for instance, aren't going to help

your diet much. Organic or natural meats, as well as fish, can be a healthy source of protein.

Try to find a source of naturally prepared meat in your area and, while this is more costly, it's

better to eat less of this kind of meat than larger quantities of unhealthy meats. The idea is to

know what you're eating. There are a lot of ways to stick to a low carbohydrate diet. Try to

open your mind and let go of the notion that it's extremely challenging to eat fewer carbs. It's

only hard if you convince yourself that it is. Any food, such as cereal, pasta or bread, can be

made using alternative, low carb ingredients. The good news is that you have lots of choices!

If you still feel that a low carb diet is a major challenge, visit your doctor or other trusted

health care provider for help. They can make the process easier if you have any questions.
