(Baby screaming) 21
-7- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MARIE MAGOON: and the guy said, the doctor said that 1
its a seasonal allergy and its gonna 2
start being more common. 3
MELISSA MOORE: Really? 4
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 5
MELISSA MOORE: Hm, learn something new every day. 6
MARIE MAGOON: I was quite surprised myself. 7
MELISSA MOORE: Does Meika have any um, reason that she 8
would be at high risk? Any diabetes, 9
immune compromised, any heart problems? 10
MARIE MAGOON: No. 11
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. 12
MARIE MAGOON: Nothing at all. 13
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. 14
(Baby screaming) 15
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. Mmm 16
(Baby crying) 17
MELISSA MOORE: Okay, so um, does she feel pain where 18
the burn is? Like when she was awake 19
did she feel pain where the v, burn 20
was? Like did it annoy her a little 21
bit? 22
MARIE MAGOON: No, nothing at all. 23
-8- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MELISSA MOORE: Really? 1
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 2
MELISSA MOORE: Okay, um, Im actually a little 3
concerned over that. Because burns 4
hurt, right? 5
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 6
MELISSA MOORE: And if shes not feeling any burn where 7
the burn is it could be a possible that 8
she has a third degree burn. 9
MARIE MAGOON: What do you mean? 10
MELISSA MOORE: Um, that she means shes burned through 11
all of her layers of skin. 12
MARIE MAGOON: No, because um, the, the way it looked 13
like at first was uh, her like the b, 14
because she moved her hand 15
MELISSA MOORE: Yeah. 16
MARIE MAGOON: instantly so she like 17
SPENCER JORDAN: (In background) It was red. 18
MARIE MAGOON: it was r, like it was red but then 19
like the, the bottom of the burn I guess 20
like broke cause she like opened her 21
hand. 22
MELISSA MOORE: Mm-hmm. 23
-9- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MARIE MAGOON: You know? 1
MELISSA MOORE: Mm-hmm. 2
MARIE MAGOON: But its not so I got to have a peek 3
at the bottom and it, its not bleeding. 4
Its, it didnt go that thick into her 5
hand. 6
MELISSA MOORE: Mm-hmm. Is it black or white? The 7
area? 8
MARIE MAGOON: Oh, its, its white. 9
MELISSA MOORE: Its, its actually white? 10
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 11
MELISSA MOORE: Okay, um, because a third degree burn 12
turns white. 13
MARIE MAGOON: Oh, really? 14
MELISSA MOORE: Yeah. Like she doesnt have any pain on 15
her hand from where the burn is? Like 16
MARIE MAGOON: No, um, the way, the way it looks 17
exactly is 18
MELISSA MOORE: Mm-hmm. 19
MARIE MAGOON: you know, like one of those uh, healed 20
blisters 21
MELISSA MOORE: Yeah. 22
MARIE MAGOON: from your shoes? 23
-10- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MELISSA MOORE: Yeah. 1
MARIE MAGOON: Thats exactly what it looks like. 2
MELISSA MOORE: Okay, and its, its white? Its not 3
like a yellow blister? 4
MARIE MAGOON: Well its, its, its got a tinge of 5
yellow in it, yeah. But not 6
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. 7
MARIE MAGOON: Its not white, white and its not 8
yellow, yellow. 9
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. 10
MARIE MAGOON: Its kinda like a yellowish, white, you 11
know? 12
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. So just ask her in the morning 13
and see if theres any pain. It does 14
say that the blister should appear deep 15
and can be white or black due to the 16
charred skin. Okay? 17
MARIE MAGOON: Uh-huh. 18
MELISSA MOORE: And have no pain because shes uh, burnt 19
all the nerve tissue. 20
MARIE MAGOON: Okay, n, I, I personally dont think 21
its 22
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. 23
-11- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MARIE MAGOON: that because she, she 1
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. 2
(Baby crying) 3
MELISSA MOORE: But just 4
MARIE MAGOON: her hand is still like 5
MELLISA MOORE: Yeah. Just keep your eye out for local 6
infection, okay? Which could be um, 7
signs of redness, um, tenderness or any 8
kind of puss in the area. 9
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 10
MELISSA MOORE: Um, has the burn, like has the blister 11
actually broken itself or is it still 12
there. 13
MARIE MAGOON: Oh, it hasnt broken itself yet, no. 14
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. Um, so it says um, you can apply 15
Neosporin or Polys, um, Polysporin and 16
a dry dressing which would be a Band-Aid 17
or whatever like that. Um, do not 18
disturb blisters. So if blister does 19
break it is best to leave the skin in 20
place unless movement in broken blister 21
area is causing increased irritation and 22
discomfort. Okay? 23
-12- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 1
MELISSA MOORE: So not to actually burst the blister 2
yourself. 3
MARIE MAGOON: Okay. 4
MELISSA MOORE: Okay? Um, and if it does burst just to 5
leave it alone and just keep the area 6
clean. If its on her hand its a 7
little bit harder cause youre using 8
your hands so that you would probably 9
wanna use the Neosporin and the 10
Polysporin and a Band-Aid or whatever. 11
MARIE MAGOON: Okay. 12
MELISSA MOORE: Okay? And then just to keep your eye 13
out for signs of infection which include 14
fever, um, puss, like drainage, like a 15
yellow or greenish drainage. 16
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 17
MELISSA MOORE: Um, and redness um, and unusually warm 18
to touch. 19
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 20
MELISSA MOORE: Okay? 21
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. I was lo, I was, Ive been 22
looking up those factors and 23
-13- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. So any other questions? 1
MARIE MAGOON: Uh, yeah, I had one and (giggles) uh, 2
yeah, is, is could it be the reason 3
why its not burning her because Ive 4
been keeping it moist? 5
MELISSA MOORE: No, it would still hurt. 6
MARIE MAGOON: Okay. 7
MELISSA MOORE: Kay. So a first degree burn is 8
superficial. The skin is dry and turns 9
pink or red with mild swelling and 10
discomfort but never blisters. Okay, so 11
a second degree the skin is moist weepy 12
and red with fluid filled blisters and 13
more severe pain. Kay, it resolves in 14
two to three weeks. Um, its shiny and 15
dry, okay? And then a third degree burn 16
um, the area may appear white and dry or 17
may be charred black. Area is not 18
painful due to the destruction of nerve 19
endings and requires prompt medical 20
treatment. 21
MARIE MAGOON: Okay. 22
-14- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MELISSA MOORE: Okay? Um, so I dont, I dont know what 1
to say. Its, its kind of like what 2
you think. 3
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 4
MELISSA MOORE: Okay? So if youre saying it doesnt 5
appear deep like to all layers of skin 6
well then its probably not and maybe 7
shes just not telling you that it 8
hurts. Okay? 9
MARIE MAGOON: Maybe. 10
MELISSA MOORE: But um, like a, like I said a second 11
degree is partial thickness. Skin is 12
moist, weepy and red with fluid filled 13
blisters, more severe pain. It resolves 14
in two to three weeks. A superficial 15
second degree burn should have shiny dry 16
skin in two weeks. Um, and a first 17
degree is skin is superficial. Skin is 18
dry and turns pink or red but does not 19
blister. So its a, a first degree is 20
like a sunburn. 21
MARIE MAGOON: Oh, okay. 22
-15- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MELISSA MOORE: Okay? And a second degree you get like 1
blisters. Um, and third degree doesnt 2
say whether it blisters or not but its 3
supposed to be white and dry. Im 4
almost taking that as like cold burn and 5
um, or maybe charred black. So 6
MARIE MAGOON: Kinda like a, like a frostbite? 7
MELISSA MOORE: Um, mmm, frostbite turns black too. Um, 8
so, yeah. White and dry like chalk. 9
MARIE MAGOON: Okay. 10
MELISSA MOORE: Okay? 11
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah, its nowhere near like that. Its 12
very moist. 13
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. So just keep an eye on it and see 14
what 15
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. 16
MELISSA MOORE: she says in the morning and like I 17
said dont burst the blister yourself. 18
And uh, if it does burst just keep it 19
covered for a little bit. 20
MARIE MAGOON: Okay. 21
MELISSA MOORE: Sound good? 22
MARIE MAGOON: Perfect. 23
-16- CPS FILE NO: 11435635
HEALTH LINK CALL OF: Marie Eve MAGOON November 12, 2011 at 00:07 hours
MELISSA MOORE: Okay. Anything else? 1
MARIE MAGOON: Uh, no, thatd be everything. Thank 2
you. 3
MELISSA MOORE: Okay, so if you have any other questions 4
or in the morning or whatever if she 5
wakes up and says something else um, or 6
if anything changes give us a call back, 7
okay? 8
MARIE MAGOON: Yeah. Sounds good. 9
MELISSA MOORE: Alright. 10
MARIE MAGOON: thank you. 11
MELISSA MOORE: Bye bye. 12
MARIE MAGOON: Bye. 13
