Finishing works underway at new Braidwood Multipurpose Service Finishing works are now underway at the new Braidwood Multipurpose Service (MPS) Redevelopment following the opening of the new facility in August. The works include demolishing the old hospital buildings and building the new staff accommodation units, car parking areas and landscaping outdoor areas. Landscape design and exterior images have been released providing an insight into what the completed Braidwood MPS campus will look like. Health Infrastructure Project Director, Braidwood MPS, Nic Di Condio said many features of the new health facility, both inside and out, have been designed to provide therapeutic benefits for patients and visitors. “The landscaping includes Aboriginal motif inspired gardens, a resident garden, courtyards and a heritage garden where the original restored 1904 morgue building will be located,” Mr Di Condio said. “Over the coming months the community will see these areas take shape and the arts and heritage program having a real impact on the internal and external spaces.” The new Braidwood MPS features:
• Health Services co-located under one roof • In-patient rooms designed according to latest models of care requirements • Purpose built facility delivering therapeutic benefits for patients and visitors • Increased single room residential aged care beds with multiple activity rooms, and
shared lounge and dining facilities • Acute care beds, • Emergency Department with dedicated ambulance entry • X-ray services.
The finishing works are expected to be completed in early 2021. The project is being funded as part of the NSW Government’s $304 million Multipurpose Service program to provide health and aged care services for small and remote rural communities. Ends
