Inapan Date: July 23, 2015OR Procedure: EGD (esophagogastroduodenocopy) Procedure that enables an examiner (usually a gastroenterologist) to evaluate the inside of the colon (large intestine or large bowel). The endoscope is an illuminated usually fiber-optic flexible or rigid tubular instrument for visualizing the interior of a hollow organ or part (as the bladder or esophagus) for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes that typically has one or more channels to enable passage of instruments (as forceps or scissors). The scope is inserted through the esophagus (food pipe) to the stomach and duodenum. Air is put through the endoscope to make it easier for the doctor to see. The lining of the esophagus, stomach, and upper duodenum is examined. Biopsies can be taken through the endoscope. Cost of the Procedure (AMC-B): With Phil Health= P 1,200.00 Without Phil Health= P 3,250.00Preparation Take your morning dose of blood pressure, heart, and/or seizure medication. No solid foods within 8 hours before your appointment time. No liquids within 2 hours before your appointment time. NO orange juice, milk or cream For diabetic: Morning procedure: Do not take your morning dose of diabetes medicine. Afternoon procedure: Take half of your morning dose of diabetes medicine. Bring your glucose meter with you to your procedure. Test your blood glucose regularly throughout the day of your prep and test. Continue aspirin, pradaxa and/or coumadin as usual. Have client bring his inhaler to the appointment.
