The Associates Degree in Health Care Administration program provides instruction in basic health care administration competencies. As a student, you will become proficient in the use of computer software applications necessary to succeed in a management environment including electronic medical records. The objective of the program is to prepare you academically and professionally while developing the social and economic attitudes which the College deems necessary for entry-level employment positions such as medical office managers, assistant managers to physician offices, supervisors in a variety of healthcare settings such as assisted living residences, nursing homes, hospitals, dental facilities, or occupational health practices, to name just a few. The Associates Degree is designed to provide a foundation that will enable you to seek and apply for management roles in your healthcare specialty. Additionally, as a graduate you will use your knowledge and leadership abilities to address a wide variety of issues in your specialty as well as broader public issues.
Job OutlookEmployment of Health Care administrators is expected to grow faster than average for all occupations through the year 2016 as the health care industry continues to expand. Although hospitals are expected to continue to be the major employers of Health Care administrators, employment is expected to grow faster in medical offices, specialty and surgical practice centers.

Working ConditionsHealth Care administrators usually work in comfortable private offices. They spend a considerable amount of time walking to consult with coworkers. Some travel may be necessary.
Physical RequirementsPhysical requirements can vary from sedentary to heavy activity depending upon whether Health Care administrators are performing administrative or clinical procedures.
HearingIf hearing impaired, must possess reasonable alternative communication skills.
SpeechMust demonstrate ability to functionally express self orally and/or in writing.
VisionMust possess normal vision or correctable to within normal ranges.
Mental & Emotional RequirementsBecause Health Care administrators deal with the public, they must be neat and well-groomed, and have a courteous, pleasant manner. Health Service administrators must be able to communicate well with coworkers. They must respect the confidential nature of medical and health information.
