AndyLucasIqualifiedasanEHOin1989andworkedforSandwell,MalvernHillsandDudleycouncilsbeforejoiningBirminghamCityCouncil.IleftBirminghamwhereIhadbeenOperationsManager(HealthandSafety)for6yearstotakeupaSeniorLecturerspostattheUniversityofWolverhampton.IamnowHeadofSafetyServicesattheUniversityofWorcester.Ihavealsospent2yearsworkingforHSE’sSafetyUnit.Forover20yearsIhavespecialisedinhealthandsafetyregulationandenforcementandallofmytrainingdrawsonmypersonalexperiences.Ihaveinvestigatedcomplexandfatalincidents,setstrategicdirection,draftedpolicyandguidancedocuments,managedandadvisedinvestigationstoprosecutionandpresentedevidenceincourtandincoronersinquests.Ihavementoredcolleaguesinalloftheserolesoverseeingtheirworkandprovidingtrainingtocolleaguesaswellasdevelopingandorganisingtrainingeventsforstudents,localauthorityofficersandHSEInspectors.Inowrunmyownconsultancyprovidingtrainingandalsoadvisingotherlocalauthoritiesontheircomplexandfatalaccidentinvestigations.Ihavepeerreviewedinvestigationreportsandprosecutionfiles,advisedonaccidentinvestigationsandactedasasecondofficerduringinterviewsundercaution.IhavebeenaregularcontributortoEHNandhaveexperienceofspeakingatvariousconferencesincludingCIEHBestoftheBest,WestminsterPolicyForumandCIEHRegionalConferences.Igenuinelybelieveinsupportingtheprofessionandprovidinglowcosttraining.Mostofmyhalfdaysessionscostonly£40/delegateanddaysessions£60/delegatedependingonnumbersandthatincludesallsupportingmaterial.
