The Australian National University (ANU) College of Engineering & Computer Science partners with a number of international institutions to give students the opportunity to study at Australia’s top university.

The ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science welcomes students from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) (HIT-SZ) seeking to obtain advanced standing (or ‘credit transfer’) into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) through our 2+2 partnership program at the ANU.

How much Advanced Standing can you obtain?If you are studying Bachelor of Engineering at HIT-SZ with a major in automation, you can receive a maximum of two years of advanced standing into the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) with a major in Mechatronic Systems.

All applicants must provide evidence that their English language ability meets the minimum requirements for admission.

*TWE = Test of Written English **The TOEFL institutional code for ANU is 0506. Applicants may use this code to report their TOEFL results to the university.

Application deadlinesApplications are currently open and the last date to apply is 1st May 2019

To submit your application:

1. Contact the HIT-SZ Partnership Coordinator to register your interest and receive an application form

2. Once you have received approval from HIT-SZ, fill out the form and email a scanned copy with all your documents to international.cecs@anu.edu.au and wangjue@hit.edu.cn

Please make sure all your documents (English language requirements, transcripts etc.,) are attached. Applications with missing documents may be considered, but it will result in delayed outcomes.

Tuition feeThe indicative fee for international students is A$45,600 per annum.

ScholarshipsANU offers a wide range of merit based scholarships to students to assist with the cost of their studies. You may be eligible to receive:

A$5000 per annum

ANU Excellence Scholarship Program A$5000 tuition fee discount in the first 12 months of study at ANU followed by 10% discount of tuition fees for years of study thereafter.

We also offer 25% and 50% tuition fee waivers for the first year to exceptional students, based on merit.

Test Requirements

Academic IELTS An overall score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component of the test

TOEFL** (paper based test) A score of 570 with a TWE* score of 4.5

TOEFL** (internet based test) An overall score of 80, with a minimum of 20 in Reading and Writing and 18 in Speaking and Listening

Cambridge CAE Advanced (Post 2015) An overall score of 176 with a minimum of 169 in all sub-skills

PTE Academic An overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 55 in each of the communicative skills

AccommodationGreat news for you!

ANU guarantees accommodation in one of our Halls, Colleges, Lodges or other approved accommodation if you are commencing your first year of study at ANU.

Semester 2, 2019 (July intake) accommodation applications will open on 1 April 2019 and close on 8 June 2019.

Electronic confirmation of enrolment (eCOE)An eCoE document is issued to all international students once you have accepted your offer to study at ANU.

This document confirms the duration of your program of study and is required to apply for a student visa.

Any changes to your program of study approved by ANU will require a new eCoE to be issued.

VisaAs an ANU student you must ensure you hold a current visa which entitles you to study for the duration of your program. Typically this is a subclass 500 student visa.

You should apply for a student visa as soon as you receive your electronic confirmation of enrolment (eCoE).

All visas are subject to conditions and you must ensure that you comply with the conditions of your visa at all times.

Log on to WattleWattle (Web Access To Teaching & Learning Environments) is an online learning environment used by all ANU students to provide a set of tools to facilitate learning, communication and collaboration, and can be used to make lecture notes, readings, digital lecture recordings and other learning resources available to students online.

Use your ANU student ID number sent to you in your welcome email, and the following separate email containing your password to login to Wattle.

What to pack?Clothes for all seasons! Canberra is generally hot in summer but quite cold in winter (temperatures can reach as low as -7°C at night). Remember that Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere so December is the middle of the Australian summer, while July is the middle of winter.

You may also need to bring electrical adaptor(s) and voltage converter(s).

Academic Skills and Learning CentreThe ANU Academic Skills and Learning Centre (ASLC) helps students develop the key academic skills and communication strategies that are foundational to all academic activity. They assist students from first year undergraduate to final year PhD. ASLC offers services such as: individual appointments, peer writing drop-in sessions, English conversation groups, Turnitin practice site, workshops, and other self-help resources.
