April at Metro Bakery & Café where 60+ young people

Planning Day – ‘Camping Out’

headspace Mount Gambier recently held its scheduled

planning day at the Mount Gambier Racecourse, in line with

the anniversary of its 3rd year of operation. Over 30

headspace staff, volunteers and external stakeholders spent

the day reflecting on past year achievements and guiding

the most important needs of the service into plans for the

next phase. Breakout sessions around our virtual camping

spaces made for a creative and less formal day of sharing.

A highlight of our achievements include the ever-growing

number of young volunteers who work in our Youth

Reference Group and the Youth Ambassador Program.

Attendees took part in an interactive art piece which

involved using recycled beach debris and creating a

Jellyfish. This Jellyfish is now on display in the

reception area of our centre as pictured below.

The maintenance in the reception area has recently been

completed. We have removed the partitioned booths to make

the space feel bigger and more inviting to sit. We have added

a rack for visitors to the centre to help themselves to food,

should they need it. The showpiece of the area is the Jellyfish

hanging from the ceiling which was created from recycled

beach debris by the headspace team.
