it’s not just about the shade, it’s about obtaining high shine and a healthy glow to the hair. To do this you need to use good quality products that are light refl ecting. For a more relaxed bob, colour needs to be more delicate and soft-focused – opt for ribbons of subtle shades for an über-natural result.”

fringe can look really dramatic, too, but you will need to have enough time to blow-dry your fringe. A For a big colour change like that I would recommend going to a salon for a professional result. Make sure
you have a full consultation � rst and be careful about going too dark, because if you are not happy with it, it might be di� cult to reverse. My advice would be to go darker gradually and maybe keep a few lighter brown pieces in there so it’s not too much of a shock. Q I recently had a baby and since then my hair has become
thinner and I am losing a lot of hair when I wash and brush it. What can I do to stop myself losing more? Anna, from Wimbledon
A The hormonal changes after pregnancy can mean you
experience hair loss. Also, during pregnancy, women do not lose hair at their normal rate, which is why hair feels so much thicker and healthier. However, after pregnancy, this hair does fall out, which can be really distressing. I would recommend that you try the Kérastase Aminexil programme (£99, available from Headmasters salons).
