It was an amazing night with a fancy venue, delicious food and lots of entertainment keeping the students happy and staff on their toes (dancing). Overall a highly successful night!

Hallam Senior College: Headlines & Highlights Term 2, 2019

1 Year 11 Physics students proudly holding up their rewards in recognition of outstanding effort and academic excellence demonstrated in their Nuclear Radiation and Atomic Energy research posters. Presented to each student was a framed sample of ‘Trinitite’, sand that was melted and fused by the heat produced from the very first atomic bomb explosion in Alamogordo, New Mexico, in 1945.

2-4 Our Year 12 Biology students enjoyed exploring areas of research in immunology as part of ‘World Immunology Day’ at GTAC in the City on Thursday 2nd May. 5-7 Students and staff enjoy an excursion to the Palais Theatre in St. Kilda, where they were part of the audience at the filming of next series of Australia's Got Talent.

9-10 This year’s Book Week was launched with a Comicon. Staff and students came dressed as characters from books, comics, graphic novels or manga.

1 Our VET Community Services class were out and about in Berwick collecting for the Salvos. Great job everyone - thanks for supporting the local community! 2-4 A big congratulations to all of the students who participated in the Year 11 VCAL nextGen challenge. Some fantastic business ideas were proposed. 5-10 Hairdressing and Beauty students had a busy term in the salon. From using a variety of colour products and methods of application to applying their new skills by helping staff prepare for the Year 12 Formal. Visiting Marnebeck students were treated to services from Year 1 Beauty

Services students inclusive of; makeup application, hand massaging, nail painting and head, neck and shoulder massages.

1 Congratulations to our Senior Boys Baseball team who earlier this term won the SSV State Title for the second year in a row. 2 Lyndall Downs from the NRL joined some of our indigenous students to talk about the shield that Melbourne Storm presented to Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs before their game as part of the NRL’s Indigenous Round. Bree Webster painted the shield and is the sister of

past Hallam student Daniel Webster. 3-4 Current student Ky-ya and her Mother have worked closely with the Vixens to create the most amazing indigenous dress for the indigenous round.5 The Netball Academy competed at the Waverely International Tournament during the Term 2 holidays. They finished runners up to Rowville after playing 11 games in four days. 6-7 Our Year 10 Sports Academy were invited to the Victoria University Inspire, Create, Explore day. Our students got the opportunity to experience lectures and workshops focused on biomechanics, exercise physiology, sports psychology and more. 8 The AFL Girls played against the Simon Black Academy followed by a recovery session afterwards at MSAC in the pools. 9 Our Rugby League Boys at Kiama NSW ahead of

their Round 1 match of the NRL Schoolboy Cup. 10 The Rugby League program finished the NRL Schoolboy Cup season with a 38-10 win against Victoria University SC at Goschs Paddock.
