Introduction
The first annual Head of the
Charles Regatta is patternedafter similar races run in Englandfor the past 40 years It makes
use of narrow and tortuouscourse at time of year when no
other rowing competition is available The boats are started at
30 second intervals and theirorder of finishing is determinedfrom the time elapsed over the
mile course The actual computation of results is done by
I.B.M at its M.I.T Computer
Prizes will be awarded at The
Penthouse 1010 Memorial DriveCambridge Mass after the conclusion of the Regatta
