Head Leasing is University Managed Accommodation. The properties are owned privately, but leased by the University. As a student you get a great house in the private sector, but the service is completely managed by the Accommodation Office - for everything from paying your rent to reporting repairs, just pop along to the 2nd Floor University House (the Students’ Union building) and we take care of the rest! You are automatically covered with Endsleigh Insurance. Cover is provided on your direct journey between home and university at the beginning and end of each term. Full Policy details for 2013/14 are in this brochure. Details will be updated for 2014/15. Every single one of our Head Leasing houses is registered with The Scheme and Hull STARS and are inspected to make sure they meet strict safety requirements.

Most Head Leasing Houses are All Inclusive, but we do have a few that are not.

If your house is All Inclusive, it will come with a TV and TV license

If your property isn’t all inclusive don’t worry - setting up your utilities is easy!

For your utilities (gas, & electricity—water is always paid by the landlord and students don’t pay council tax) we recommend budgeting for £14 per person, per week. You can save money by being careful with your energy use, and Glide (glide.uk.com) provide a service where each housemate is responsible for their share of the bills, so no one person is responsible for chasing their housemates for payments. Broadband in Hull is provided by Kingston Communications (KC), prices start at approximately £20 per month, with unlimited broadband costing around £40 per month. You will need a telephone line to do this. Alternatively you can now shop around online for new providers such as Hull Broadband and Sure Broadband to see who can give you the best deal. Remember to check how long your contract will be with them as your accommodation is only a 46 Week contract. A TV License costs £145.50 for the entire year - you only need a license if you are watching live broadcast TV, or are watching live broadcasts online (for example through BBC iPlayer) - check www.tvlicensing.co.uk to see if you need a license! With Head Leasing you sign one contract as a group —so you only need one license.
