T his week I had the privilege
of conducting the memorial service for a man who
was like a second father to me. I knew Joe Manspile all of my life and this was a very emotional loss for me. I grew up with his children who are like a brother and sister to me and I knew it would a difficult week as we all grieved together this loss.
Grief is a difficult and yet a necessary reality in life. There are people who come into our lives that have a lasting impact and in many ways shape who we are in the future. Joe was just such a person in my life. I learned many life lessons from him. He taught me things that boys who were becoming men needed to know and I will ever be indebted to him for the time he spent with me and his son Joey.
Joe was one of the most intelligent men I have known. He was a farmer, gardener, carpenter, electrician, plumber, mechanic, and if that wasn’t enough he also worked as a paper

maker for Georgia Pacific. But even with all of those skills the way I choose to remember Joe is as a teacher.
If I seemed a little emotional on Sunday it was because I was still processing the very recent loss. The stages of grief are fluid and as I journey through these stages please be in prayer for me. My faith is strong and I place my hope in the Lord Jesus Christ and that ultimately is enough.
Many of you have lost loved ones and you know how real the grief is. Some-times it is very difficult to live your grief out in front of others. But I pray for each of you as you deal with the losses in your life and I covet your prayers for me as each of us moves forward in our journey with the Lord. ~~ Pastor Tim

A WORD ABOUT COVID-19 At the present time we will continue having worship services on Sundays. In the meantime we will continue to be reevaluating any up to date guidance through the Virginia Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). We ask that if you have flu-like symptoms or if anyone in your home has them you remain at home. We will keep you updated as changes occur.
