APRIL 16, 2017 EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD

K E N O S I S FOR E A S T E R

Dear Sisters and Brothers:

A LIBERATING AND GLORIOUS EASTER TO YOU ALL!

Two Sundays ago, after the Mass, a little girl with her mother and younger brother asked the

question, "Why is Mary hiding?" She was pointing to the dark curtain hanging by the left side of the

sanctuary covering the pedestals where the statues of Jesus and Mary are normally situated. I had a

big laugh! And trying to recover my composure to such a pure innocent question, I told her, “In time

Mary will show herself again.” I just couldn't contain myself, my amazement, my joy to such an

awesome question. I shared that experience to other parishioners who also shared my delight.

You know now the "mystery" behind the dark curtain. It was the creativity and hard work of some

of our parishioners to make a kind of cave to help us delve deeply into the very heart of our Christian

faith, the Resurrection of Christ from the dead. As the two young men in Luke's gospel said "He is

not here, but he has been raised.” (Luke 24:6) It is impossible for us to grasp fully the total import of

this tremendous mystery. But in His mercy and love, Christ's desire is for us to be impacted by His

risen life so that one day, we will share the eternal life He promised.

Without Jesus rising from the dead, there would be no Christianity, no Church, no sacraments, no

hope for us. We would all be damned; condemned to eternal fire in hell. And because He is Risen, we

are given the grace to become heirs of heaven with Him, to become adopted sons and daughters of

God in the language of St. Paul.

The most fitting response to this extravagant love of Christ for us is constant gratitude to God despite

the very situations we find ourselves in everyday. And we can do it best as redeemed sinners and as a

community of faith, when we gather together offering to God the Eucharist Sunday after Sunday as

we encounter the Risen Lord who is the Host, the Guest, and Food at the same Eucharist! Being fed,

nourished by Him, we too can become more and more like Him; emerge from our hiding places, drive

away the evils in our society, and continue building the Reign of God where we are.

Keeping you all constantly in the Breaking of Bread!

In our Risen Lord,

Fr. Frankie, SSS

Pastor

He Is Risen!!

Alleluia!

May the LOVE of the Risen Christ that surpasses all understanding bring

PEACE and JOY to you and your loved ones, and may the merciful Risen

Lord be with you always! Wishing you all a Happy and Blessed Easter!

Haec dies quam fecit Dominus: "This is the day which the Lord

has made." Throughout the octave we shall sing of the

unequalled joy which throws open eternity to us. Every Sunday

will furnish a reminder of it, and from Sunday to Sunday, from

year to year, the Easters of this earth will lead us to that blessed

day on which Christ has promised that He will come again with

glory to take us with Him into the kingdom of His Father.

May the PEACE of the RISEN LORD reign in our

hearts as we continue responding to HIS call: to

proclaim in word and in work the good news of

HIS RESURRECTION!

HAVE A BLESSED EASTER!

Mary, Star of the Sea Early Learning Center

Celebrates Easter and New Life!

The Miracle of the Butterfly

The butterfly is a traditional Easter symbol and is a living parable of the promise

of new life and resurrection. After the caterpillar fulfills its urge to eat and grow, it instinctively

forms a chrysalis around itself which hardens. In all outward appearance, it appears lifeless. Then

one day, the chrysalis begins to move and writhe and, through much effort, a beautiful butterfly

emerges! It is the beginning of a new life! The miracle of the butterfly in its new form symbolizes and

celebrates the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

At Mary, Star of the Sea Early Learning Center, the children are introduced to Easter as a joyous

celebration of new life, through the life cycle of the butterfly. A special crown flower tree, a home to

hundreds of caterpillars over the many years, was planted at the ELC by its teachers. Through the

life cycle of the caterpillar, the children are provided with learning experiences and opportunities to

grow in their understanding and appreciation of new life; and to lay the groundwork for this

understanding of new life found in Jesus. The ELC administration, teachers and staff wish you and

your family a very blessed and glorious Easter!

Easter Blessings from Margaret Rufo, Principal, Mary,Star of the Sea School

Easter is truly a time of celebration! As we see signs of renewed life all around us in nature, we realize

that we can share in that renewal. I see the grace of our Lord in the growth and renewal of our

school. We have a vibrant parent community willing to roll up their sleeves and share their gifts of

time and talent. There is a joyful spirit of collaboration within our faculty and I continue to be

impressed by their creativity and professionalism. As I walk through the classrooms, I marvel at the

levels of student engagement and the enthusiasm for learning. May your Easter basket be full of joy,

happiness and peace, today and always.
