2020 Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Dressage Championship Dates and Locations Selected - The United States Dressage Federation™ (USDF) has selected the dates and locations for the 2020 Great American Insurance Group/USDF Regional Dressage Championships, presented by SmartPak.

These championships recognize the outstanding efforts of riders in each USDF region and provide an excellent opportunity for spectators to view the top competitors in their respective regions. Additionally, the top amateur and open riders at each of the championships, who have submitted a declaration of intent, and completed all other requirements, will receive an invitation to compete at the US Dressage Finals presented by Adequan®. USDF Congratulates 2019 USDF/IDA National Quiz Challenge Winners - The United States Dressage Federation™ (USDF) would like to congratulate Molly Sutton, overall winner of the 2019 USDF/IDA National Quiz Challenge, held at the 2019 TheraPlate Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) National Championships. Molly, a member of Virginia Tech's 2021 class, was entered in the Lower Training division. Highlights from the HDS Spring Classic I & II and Tex-Over Farms CDI April 25-28, 2019 at GSWEC in Katy, TX

The CDI got started with the “horse inspection,” or jog. The Best

Presentation award went to Yvonne Kusserow and Noerregaards Shiva

from Rocking M Stables.

Marta Renilla, of Woodlands Equestrian Club, won the CDI2* Big Tour

Leading Athlete Champion award (I-II/Grand Prix) on Gamarro Font as

well as the CDI1* Small Tour Leading Athlete Champion award (PSG/I-I/I-

I Freestyle) on Jazzmeyer. Marta is pictured with her CDI Champion

cooler while Gamarro Font checks out his ribbons.

Zainab Shah riding Belief was the CDICH (Child) Leading Athlete

Champion.

Ashlee Watts won many HDS Spring Classic awards with her three

horses including National and FEI AA High Points, the Hedley Lamberty

Owner’s Trophy, the Winsome High Point Mare Trophy and the

Calaveras County Adult Amateur Trophy. Ashley is pictured with her

mare Die Schnelle, Hedley Lamberty Trophy presenter Mary Nuttal and

rider Allie Cyprus.

The “X Marks the Spot” show theme included a pirate’s banquet with

costumes and karaoke. HDS Board members Angel Gunn, Suzy Parker

and Chris Renne dressed for the occasion.

CDI Title Sponsor, Tex-Over Farms, won the stall decorating contest with a

“pirate horse!”

The Region 9 Juniors held a “Dressage Queen” fundraiser by making

crowns for show participants. Technical Delegate, Sally Davenport, wore

her crown proudly.

2019 US Equestrian Annual Meeting Moderated Forums and Workshops: SafeSport Panel – What You Need to Know - Last year was a breakthrough year for legislation and education surrounding the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s Code and the US Equestrian Safe Sport Policy and requirements for its members. In the wake of the #metoo movement and over 200 gymnasts who came forward about abuse they suffered at the hands of Larry Nassar, equestrians and non-equestrians alike stepped forward to break the silence and the barrier for men and women of all ages surrounding the difficult topic of sexual abuse. READ MORE HERE It’s Gold for The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team at FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ USA - For the second day in a row, it was gold for a U.S. team as The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team secured the top spot on Thursday, March 14, in the FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ USA CDIO3* presented by Stillpoint Farm and held during the 2019 Adequan® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) 10 in Wellington, Fla. Earning the win for The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team with a total score of 437.693 were team members Jennifer Baumert (Wellington, Fla.), Shelly Francis (Loxahatchee, Fla.), Ashley Holzer (Wellington, Fla.), and Charlotte Jorst (Reno, Nev.). Application Period Open for US Equestrian Youth Sportsman’s Award - US Equestrian is pleased to announce that the application period for the 2019 Youth Sportsman’s Award is now open. The award serves to identify future leaders across US Equestrian’s 29 recognized breeds and disciplines and to distinguish outstanding youth for their achievements.

Active members aged 17 years and younger as of December 1, 2018, and in good standing with US Equestrian and their recognized national affiliate/international discipline associations are eligible to apply.

The winner will receive a commemorative trophy, a $1,000 grant payable to the educational program of their choice, and a nomination to the US Equestrian Junior Equestrian of the Year award. The reserve winner receives a $500 grant payable to the educational program of their choice.

Applicants should demonstrate an ongoing commitment and dedication to the promotion of equestrian sport, serve as positive role models, and exhibit characteristics that exemplify sportsmanship principles. Applicants must also demonstrate their involvement in their community’s equestrian activities, as well as involvement at any level of competition, including local, regional, and national events. READ MORE HERE US Equestrian Announces Short List for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games U.S. Dressage Team - US Equestrian has named seven dressage athletes to the Short List for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games U.S. Dressage Team.

The following Big Tour horse-and-athlete combinations have been named to the Short List (in alphabetical order):

• Charlotte Jorst (Reno, Nev.) and Kastel’s Nintendo, Kastel Denmark’s 16-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion

• Nick Wagman (San Diego, Calif.) and Don John, Beverly Gepfer’s 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding

The following Small Tour horse-and-athlete combinations have been named to the Short List (in alphabetical order):

• Nora Batchelder (Williston, Fla.) and Faro SQF, the 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding she owns with Andrea Whitcomb

• Jennifer Baumert (Wellington, Fla.) and Handsome, Betsy Juliano LLC’s 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding

• Ashley Holzer (Wellington, Fla.) and Valentine, her nine-year-old Hanoverian mare

New GMO officers review the GMO Handbook on the USDF Web site. GMOs submit an updated list of officers to USDF office, with copy to Regional Director. Nominations for Region 9 Teaching Excellence Award open for current year. Guidelines available

on Region 9 Website.

February

PM Delegate and Executive Board nominations open. February 10 – Deadline for competitions – submit completed Regional Championships Host Site

applications to Regional Director. February 28 – Regional Board- current year regional travel budgets due to Region 9 Treasurer &

Regional Director.

March

March 1 – Riders Declarations of Intent” to qualify for the NAJYRC are due to the USDF office. March 1 is the final postmark date for ‘Declarations of Intent” to be accepted with a $50 declaration fee. Postmarked declarations of March 2 through April 1st are accepted with a $300 declaration fee.

End of fiscal year for USDF & Region 9.

April

April 1 – FINAL “Received by” date for the NAJYRC “Declarations of Intent” with fee. April 15 – Deadline for PM Delegate nominations to the USDF office. Mid to end of April –USDF Spring Executive Board Meeting. April 30 – Applications to host a USEF Developing Programs and NAJYRC Qualifying Event is

due to USEF by electronic submission. This is for competitions being held January 1 – December of the next year.

May

Region 9 Omnibus Advertising Form available on Region 9 Website. Deadline for Omnibus ads is Sept 17.

May 1 – Nominations for Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Awards to USDF office. First week of May – Regional Championship sites announced. Mid May – NAJYRC Entries in Principle due to USDF office for submission to USEF.

June 1 – Online voting for PM delegates goes live on USDF Web site. For a paper ballot, request through the USDF office.

June 1 – Nominations for the Executive Board (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Regional Directors and At-Large Directors) due to the USDF office. Positions on the Executive Board in which elections are held stagger depending on the year. Nominations may also be made from the floor of the BOG at the Annual Meeting.

June 1 – USDF Arts Contest opens. Youth & Adult. Mid-June – NAJYRC nominated entries due to USDF office. End of June – NAJYRC definite entries due to USDF office, including final stabling fees. June 30 – Deadline to vote for PM delegates on the USDF Web site. Ballot must be returned to the

USDF office, and postmarked no later than June 30. USEF Rule changes proposed by individuals are due to USEF by June 1, and by September 1 if

submitted by USEF committees or affiliate entities. Official USDF proposed rule changes are generally voted on by the Executive Board and channeled to the USEF Dressage Committee.

GMO Delegate Authorization Forms are mailed to eligible GMOs, to appoint representation for the end of year USDF Convention.

July

All entries for the USDF Arts Contest must be received in the USDF office on or before July 1. July 1 – Nominations for Region 9 Teaching Excellence Award close – current year. July 1 – Region 9 GMO Board Attendee- Regional Grant Application for Summer Meeting due to

RD. Application on: www.usdfregion9.org End of July – NAJYRC is held. July 31 – GMO Reports, Regional Board Reports, & Regional Financial updates/ reports due to

Region 9 Director, for inclusion in the Region 9 Summer Meeting packet.

August 1 – Deadline to submit Request for Refund of Multiple GMO dues to the USDF office. These refund requests can be submitted to USDF April 1 through August 1 of the current membership year.

August 1 – Deadline to submit All-Breeds declarations to USDF. August 15 – Deadline for Scholarship application for Youth to attend convention due to the USDF

office. August 31 – Deadline to submit Ruth Arvanette Memorial Fund Grant Application to the USDF

office. August 31 – Deadline to submit GMO Newsletter and Web Site Award nominations to the USDF

office. August 31 – Deadline for GMO and Youth and USDF Volunteer of the Year Award nominees due

to the USDF office. August 31 – Deadline for GMOs to return GMO Delegate Authorization form, appointing

representation for the BOG meeting at the annual convention.

Motions to amend the Bylaws generally need to be in process no later than August in order to get through the system. A

Bylaw motion to be considered by the BOG needs to be first submitted to the USDF EB and the Bylaws Committee for

comment and review at least 60 days before the BOG General Assembly

Region 9 “Horse Person of the Year”, & Region 9 “Teaching Excellence Award” awarded at the Great American / USDF Regional Championship Show.

November 30 – Deadline for GMOs to submit final GMO roster for the current membership year. Rosters can be submitted through November 30 for either the current membership year or the following membership year, but must be clearly marked as to which year the roster applies.

November 30 – End of the USDF membership year. Region 9 Board – job description updates due to RD, and post on Region 9 Website.

December [End of Nov. – beginning of December – Adequan/USDF Annual Convention]

December 1 – Initial GMO membership roster and matching dues are due in the USDF office for the following membership year. These are considered late if received after December 1 and late fees will be applied.

December 1 – GMOs must have their Annual GMO Affiliate Verification Form to the USDF office to remain listed on the USDF Web site.

Throughout the Year

Shows may apply to USDF for: Breeders Championship Series & Final- deadline- at least 6 months prior to competition.

Shows may apply for: Dover Adult Amateur Medal – 2nd Level – deadline at least 90 days prior to show date.

GMOs may apply for education grants from Dressage Foundation-at least 90 days out: www.dressagefoundation.org
