4.3 Measurement
During Acceptance Test, there are 3 measurements required to be conducted which are:
VSWR Measurements.
Distance To Fault Measurements.
Insertion Loss Measurements.
4.3.1 VSWR Measurements
The VSWR of each Antenna must be measured in the entire HCPT DCS/UMTS frequency band:
Frequency Range:
DCS: Full Bandwidth 1710 1880 MHzUplink (RX) 1710 1785 MHzDownlink (TX) 1805 1880 MHz
UMTS: Full Bandwidth 1920 2170 MHzUplink (RX) 1920 1980 MHzDownlink (TX) 2110 2170 MHz
The measurement should be done at bottom end of feeder cable of:
Each individual Antenna.
Every part of feeder cable that connecting Splitter/Tapper/Combiner/Hybrid toSplitter/Tapper/Combiner/Hybrid.
Entire Antenna system.
The worst value must be marked with a marker for both in uplink and downlink band. Record the
measurements value and compare to the VSWR limit value (all the measurements recalled will becollected on a hardware support and attached to this document).
Figure 1. Splitter, Connector, Jumper Cable, Feeder and Antenna typical configuration.
4.3.2 Distance To Fault Measurements
The Distance To Fault (DTF) must be measured for performance verification and failure analysis.DTF displays RF return loss or VSWR data versus distance. The effects of poor connections, damaged cables, or faulty Antennas are quickly identified. Since DTF automatically accounts forattenuation versus distance, the display accurately indicates the return loss or VSWR of theAntenna.
Further information on how the Distance To Fault measurements should be performed described inattachment in Annex 3.

10/68
4.3.3 Insertion Loss Measurements
Insertion loss must be measured to analyze transmission feed line installation and performancequality.
The transmit and receive Antennas are connected to the radio through coaxial cable and orwaveguide transmission lines (Figure 2).
Insertion loss measures the energy absorbed by the transmission line in the direction of the signalpath in dB/meter or dB/feet. Transmission line losses are dependent on cable type, operatingfrequency and the length of the cable run. Insertion loss of a cable varies with frequency; the higherthe frequency, the greater the loss.
Insertion loss measurements help troubleshoot the network by verifying the cable installation andcable performance. High insertion loss in the feedline or jumpers can contribute to poor system
performance and loss of coverage. Measuring insertion loss using Site Master assures accurate andrepeatable measurements.
Figure 2. Typical Transmission Line System.
Further information on how the Insertion Loss measurements should be performed described inattachment in Annex 4.

12.2Kbps Voice Long Call Walk Tests: During this Walk Test a voice call is started at thebeginning of the test and is only restarted when the call drops. If the call does not drop during thetest, the Walk Test only consists of one long call. This test procedure might be used e.g. forhandover performance evaluation. It will not be used for evaluating a drop call rate. Generally, thecalls will be MOC calls to an automatic answering machine. In case the customer require MMC, the2
ndmobile will be in stationary position with a good coverage condition and outside from the test-
area.
12.2Kbps Short Call Walk Tests:During this Walk Test several voice calls with the same durationand idle time in between are conducted. The duration of the call shall be 90 seconds and the idletime between two calls shall be 10 seconds. This test procedure might be used e.g. for benchmarkWalk Tests or drop call rate performance evaluation. Generally, the calls will be MOC calls to anautomatic answering machine. In case the customer require MMC, the 2
nd mobile will be in
stationary position with a good coverage condition and outside from the test-area.
Video Call Walk Tests:During this Walk Test several video calls with the same duration and idletime in between are conducted. The duration of the call shall be 90 seconds and the idle timebetween two calls shall be 10 seconds. This test procedure might be used e.g. for benchmark WalkTests or video-call drop rate performance evaluation. Generally, the video-calls are MMC calls, the2
ndmobile will be in stationary position with a good coverage condition and outside from the test-
area.
Handover Walk Tests: During this walk tests will be performed measurements in connected modein continuous call starting outside the building with a Macro Serving Cell and going inside for all thepublic entrances and the opposite direction. Other type of tests will be performed in the lifts or inother places where a Softer Handover could happen in both the directions.
Stationary Throughput Tests: To evaluate the data capabilities of the 3G network stationarythroughput tests shall be performed at several points in antenna visibility condition (downloads anduploads of a 5 MBytes file shall be performed; the file size is due to take in account the Bit RateAdaptation). These points shall be picked by the Purchaser and mutually agreed with the Contractor. The stationery throughput test shall include, but not limited to, FTP Download/Upload, WWWBrowsing and Email access.
Mobile FTP Throughput Tests: To evaluate the data capabilities of the UMTS network FTP,downloads and uploads of a 5 MBytes file shall be performed (the file size is due to take in accountthe Bit Rate Adaptation). The mobile used for this drive test shall be a class four mobile.
