Having completed a three year Business Administration course at Hugh Baird College, Amanda progressed to the Foundation Degree in Business and Management.
Amanda said:“I chose to do the Business and Management foundation degree at Hugh Baird University Centre because it will give me the qualifications I need to look into having my own business. What I like about the course is that we learn about a lot of different areas. I also like my tutors; they are very helpful and kind. I am hoping to go on to do the Top up year at Hugh Baird to gain a full honours degree”
“My advice to anyone thinking of studying at Hugh Baird University Centre is that you can do it; believe in yourself and you can achieve whatever you put your mind to. No matter what your abilities, Hugh Baird will help you achieve.”

Alex said:“Hugh Baird University Centre seemed the most suitable option for me due to location and I have a great rapport with the tutors. What I like about the course is the variety of projects that have been issued and also the tutors. The best thing about being here is the environment and the new University Centre”
“The advice I’d give to anyone thinking of studying a degree at Hugh Baird is to really look into the course they want to do and how it will help in later life. Fully understanding the course in full is key to progression.”

Antony completed the BTEC First Diploma in Media and the Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production at Hugh Baird College before enrolling on the Foundation Degree in Contemporary Media Practice. The best things about the course is that the equipment is new and meets industry standards and the quality of the teaching and attitude of the staff is excellent.
Antony said:“I was working on a building site and knew that I couldn’t see myself doing that for the rest of my life. I knew the only way to change that was going back to college. I chose Hugh Baird to do the Foundation Degree because of the friendly staff, the equipment, the location and the fact that I had studied on the Level 3 BTEC course here”
“My advice to anyone thinking of studying at Hugh Baird University Centre is to just go for it! The staff are friendly and helpful and will support you more than other universities.”

John finished his GCSEs at Broadgreen High School and was considering doing a mechanics course but decided that he wanted to do Performing Arts instead. He enrolled at Hugh Baird College in 2010 and achieved distinctions on both the Level 2 and Level 3 Diplomas in Performing Arts before progressing to the Foundation Degree in Creating Performance.
John said:“I chose to do this course at Hugh Baird University Centre because I felt that it would provide me with the skills to succeed. It also provides a much tougher first year than most other universities. My ambition is to become a professional stage actor and who knows where that will lead. I would also like to focus more on scriptwriting and possibly produce a number of plays.”
“My advice to anyone thinking of studying for a degree at Hugh Baird University Centre is to be prepared to get your head down as there really is a lot of work attached to the course but also have fun.”
John Smith

Before enrolling at Hugh Baird University Centre, Mandy was doing voluntary work in a primary school to gain experience to support her course. She is studying towards the Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services, which is validated by the University of Centre Lancashire.
Mandy said:“I chose to attend Hugh Baird University Centre because of the availability of the course to support my chosen career path. Easy travel access was also a major consideration. The course offers a chance to combine practical experience with theory. It has expanded my knowledge of areas which I had previously never considered. I have found that my critical thinking skills have improved enormously which has been beneficial when writing assignments”
“The advice I’d give to anyone thinking of studying towards a degree at Hugh Baird University Centre is that the support is fantastic. The new building has a warm and friendly atmosphere where long lasting friendships can be made. Library staff are always on hand to willingly offer help and guide you to what you need.”

Before starting on the Foundation Degree in Digital Imaging and Photography, Tony worked in commercial web design, wedding and event photography.
Tony said:“It was initially the location that attracted me to the Hugh Baird University Centre but my final decision to enrol was made after meeting with the tutor. Studying here is different to other universities. Support and feedback is ongoing if you need it to be. It allows you to develop your own learning style. The trips we go on are a real surprise, as is the bursary for undergraduates. Combining the two really allows you to enjoy all the benefits of the course without financial worry. For me, I made the right choice at the right time and in some respects I was very lucky. I really wish more people were aware of the options open to them, particularly in the current climate”
“My advice to anyone thinking of studying at Hugh Baird University Centre is to speak with the tutors who run the course you’re interested in. Education is not what it used to be and certainly not what I expected it to be.”
