HAUTE PURSUIT
Jennifer Murcia
A Fashion Portfolio
Fashion has helped me express my ideas & bond with others in a way that words cannot.
It has given me a voice, presence, & purpose.
I want other women to feel empowered through fashion.
My solution lies in collaborating with other art-ists to create dependable accessories & clothing that are stunning conversation starters.

CSM Fashion Fundamentals: What is my Formation
During the design process my instructor of the CSM Short Course explained that a collection al-ways flows better when it comes from the closet of one woman.
Throughout a woman’s life & career, she will face challenges that build internal fortitude & create self-awareness.
This collection attests to this by paying homage to one of the most resilient & self-confident women I know, my grandmother.

CCSF Illustration/Flat Sketches :Love or Violence Fashion Collection
OriginsBased on my travels to England & Spain, strong TV/film female leads, & music by composer Rob Dougan...
the collection...Love or Violence was born. It follows the career of an international spy via her closet.
She is faceless, fearless, & skilled. She is anyone, from any given place, & any given background.
She is a modern woman who adapts & survives de-spite the chaos.

When taking PAD I learned to use basic principles of pattern-making in a digital format. I learned how to use different com-mands by creating garments of varying degrees of difficulty. Above: Final Project - Kimono/Princess Seam Corset Dress Below: Class Exercise - Puffed-Sleeve Button Up Blouse
Growing PAD/Patternmaking Skills
A large reason that I chose to pursue a Patternmaking certificate is that I want to understand how clothes fit on a woman’s body so that when I’m creating garments (or accessories) I have a greater under-standing of what effects they have on a woman’s silhouette.
Ventures into Accessories:
Seattle’s Chihuly Glass & Garden Museum show-cases the work of American glass sculptor Dale Chihuly. The large, intricate colorful sculptures are a cross between sea life and colorful flowers. Inspired by Chihuly’s work, I designed two sets of earrings: one longer, dangling earring with a tassel & flower studs.
These earrings were designed for a pricier fast fashion market and would hang with Banana Republic or Madewell.
