LAND OF WELCOME AND RELIGIONSThe Haut-Lignon adhered early on to theReform in the XVI century. The protestantcommunity came through the ages ;assembled from the Desert and newdoctrines. Despite this, Catholicism
remains present, as shown by chapelssuch as the Pénitents Blancs. Whetheryou are an avid walker or you are insearch of a spiritual experience, follow the pilgrimage St James of Compostela, or walk in the footsteps of St John FrancisRegis.A land of welcome as early as the XIXcentury, the charity “Children of theMountain” allowed many young children
from cities to come and take advantage of the fresh air.The Plateau then went on to welcomemany different refugees throughout theyears and especially during the SecondWorld War. Refugees and children arrivedwith the help of the railway line whichhas now become a tourist train. Land of welcome and resistance, here blows the wind of freedom !
