Royal Huisman moved its hypermodern 58-metre sailing yacht project known as The Beast outside of its build shed at the end of March for the first time since construction started in January 2015. Nearly ready to set sail, Ngoni is expected to be launched soon with her mast to be stepped and final outfitting to take place ahead of her much anticipated first sea trials out on the North Sea.
Lürssen’s 135m project Thunder hits the waterLürssen launched their latest 135-metre superyacht in early April. The largest yacht to be launched this year, Project Thunder will comfortably enter the Top 20 largest yachts of all time upon completion. Thunder’s exterior lines are the design work of Espen Oeino and the yacht’s traditionally-styled interior will be outfitted over the coming months. According to the shipyard, Thunder is expected to cruise mostly in Asian waters.
Sailing yacht Sorceress launches in Cape Town
58m sailing yacht Ngoni revealed for the first time
South African yacht builder Southern Wind Shipyard launched the first of its new miniseries cruiser-racer yachts as the 96’ sailing yacht Sorceress hit the water in Cape Town harbour. The yacht was built for a passionate sailor who is also the owner of an 80-foot custom carbon racer and was looking for a larger yacht that would suit both transoceanic and coastal races as well as blue water cruising. The design teams of Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design created the SW96 miniseries with these exact requirements in mind.
