CBT-400 CIRCUIT BREAKER TEST SYSTEM

Simple to Operate

Internal Storage of Records

Intelligent Results Analysis

Test Sequencing and Cycling

Multiple Test Configurations

Powerful Replay Software™

The new CBT-400 is the latest microprocessor based CircuitBreaker Test System for the timing and testing of mediumand high voltage circuit breakers. In response to evergrowing needs for field and factory testing of circuitbreakers, Hathaway has developed a succesor to the CBT-4, which has a ten year history of successful circuit breakertesting worldwide. The CBT-400 can acquire the following information:

Contact Opening / Closing timings.Open / Close coil currents.Mechanism Travel and Velocity.Station battery voltage.Dynamic contact resistance.

The system is controlled using an integral keypad and LCDdisplay. Simple operation is obtained with the CBT-400'smenu driven software, designed to prompt the operatorand requiring minimal reference to the operating manual. The CBT-400 can perform automatic result analysis usingpre-programmed limits for expected results. When abreaker test is carried out the CBT-400 compares the actualresults with those expected. Any variances outside the limitsare indicated on the print-out and LCD display. An additional feature of the CBT-400 for factory testingallows a number of tests to be carried out in a sequence. This sequence can then be cycled up to 99 times and theresults of each test can be saved to memory.16 different test configurations can alsobe stored within the memory, any ofwhich can be accessed on site. All resultscan be stored within the CBT-400'sinternal memory and retrieved at a laterdate via direct computer link or modem, eliminating the requirement for a PC to becarried on site.

Results can also be downloaded from the CBT-400 to aWindows Replay package where they can be analyzedand archived. Also featured in this package is a RemoteConfiguration program to allow modification of testparameters via a PC. Results may also be transferred toany “off the shelf” Windows database package for easygeneration and customising of reports. The CBT-400 has been designed for use in high voltagesub-stations and is immuneto the high levels ofelectrical interferencetypically found in thisenvironment. Thesystem is contained in arugged field portablecase and has beendesigned to withstandthe high levels ofmechanical shockencountered in thisapplication.

Micro-Ohm Interface

A comprehensive range of linear and rotary traveltransducers are available for measuring circuit breakermechanism travel and velocity.

The Micro-Ohm Interface allows a “dynamic” resistanceprofile of the circuit breaker to be recorded. This can beanalysed using the Windows based Replay softwarepackage and measurements of both main and arcingcontacts can be made by injecting a high dc current, typically 1000A, from an external battery. The Micro-OhmInterface calculates the resistance of the contactsthroughout a Close-Open sequence and generates anoutput for the CBT-400 where a resistance trace isrecorded. The Micro-Ohm Interface has an added safetyfeature which will break the current flow in the event of thecircuit breaker failing to open.

™ ™

A protective carrying case and cable carrying roll isavailable for the safe transportation of the CBT-400.

A Windows based Replay software package is availablefor the Hathaway range of Circuit Breaker test andmonitoring products. This package allows test records andresults to be analyzed in detail and archived on a PC.Records can be transferred to the CBT-400 via a modem ora direct RS232 connection. The Replay software allows single records to be viewed, ormultiple records may be overlayed to show variances inresults. Cursors can be moved to any position on a record, where measurements can be obtained. Also included in this package is a Remote Configurationprogram that enables the set up parameters and test limitsto be stored and transferred to the CBT-400.

™ ™

The program can also export test results to a database thatenables the sorting and searching of records, generation ofcustomised reports and generation of works orders forpreparing breaker maintenance schedules. The databasepackage used in this application is commercially availableand highly flexible. It can be easily customised to provideinformation in any customer required format.

Other Hathaway products that can be used with the abovesoftware packages are:
