We now offer low pressure UV systems and Ozone systems for small commercial pools and spas and medium sized outdoor pools. See page 5 for more details. Of course, we still offer our medium pressure UV system by ETS which is the preferred choice for disinfection and chloramine destruction on indoor commercial pools.

The Nex Gen On-Site Chlorine Generator (page 16) utilizes salt to manufacture chlorine on-site – using the water from the swimming pool. But here’s the trick – there is no salt added to the pool. All salt is stored off line and so is the chlorine that gets manufactured. A Stenner pump then feeds the liquid chlorine from a storage tank into the pool as it is needed. The Nex Gen can easily serve multiple pools from a single unit.

Replace pump tubes twice a year. These pumps are so inexpensive

Once per year send your pump to If It’s Water for factory authorized service. Our technicians will inspect your pump, replace worn parts, lubricate the gear and shaft as-sembly and install a new tube. This inexpensive preventative mainte-nance usually can be accomplished within 24 hours.

Always rinse off and wipe chemi-cals, residue and debris from the pump head components before re-placing the tube.

Inspect the pump head compo-nents for cracks. Ensure that the rollers are spinning freely.

HELPFUL HINTSWHEN REPLACING PUMP TUBES

Tighten the suction/discharge con-necting nuts, fi nger tight only.

Use caution when disconnecting the suction/discharge lines when chang-ing the tube or the tube housing as they may contain hazardous chemi-cals. Loosen connection nut to relieve resident pressure on the discharge “OUT” pump tube.

Always wear proper protective safety equipment when performing maintenance on chemical metering pumps.

STAIR RAILS

Stair Rails should be used on all pool entry steps as a necessary safety feature to allow safe entry and exit from the pool. T304 stain-less steel polished and buffed to a 320 grit fi nish. Stair rails come in either 2-bend or 3-bend (shown) confi gurations. Stock sizes are 48”, 60” and 72’”wide. Custom sizes are available.

DECK MOUNTED GRAB RAILSDeck Mounted Rails are in-tended for use with vinyl or fi berglass pools having pre molded steps. Anchorage of the rails to the deck is 8” on center and provides the stabil-

ity needed without penetrating the molded steps. A va-riety of models are available to meet any pool or spa confi guration. 1.90” O.D. x .065” wall thickness. 1.50” O.D. available upon request. Both stainless steel and concrete continuous overfl ow gutter systems offer superior performance over traditional box skimmer design. The pool will be kept clean with constant skimming action over the entire pool surface as well as acting as a quell for wave action. Proper wave quell translates to a fast pool.Either type of gutter must be designed properly and installed exactly to achieve the desired effect. The slightest defect in elevation can render either product worthless. The surge area in the gutter trough and even something as simple as the drag effect of the water transgressing through the gutter become a func-tion of how well the gutter performs.All things being equal (both gutters are designed properly and installed to exact tolerances) we will review the benefi ts of both systems.

CONSTRUCTION

Concrete gutters are often diffi cult for commercial pool builders to bid in the North East part of the United States. The exacting concrete work required and the fi nish tiling discourages bids from some builders. On the other hand, stainless steel gutters are installed by factory welders with the experience to install to exact tolerances. Quite honestly the builder can build the pool an inch out of level with little or no consequence - the gutter installer will make the fi nal product level.Another benefi t to a stainless gutter is that in can be installed in all types of weather (i.e. winter).

MAINTENANCE

Stainless steel can rust. Concrete can - and will - crack. After time it may be necessary to clean the stainless gutter the same way the owner may clean the stainless handrails or starting blocks. This would require a cleaner and elbow grease. The concrete gutter would most likely have a tile fi nish throughout. The owner can expect the same cleaning procedure. Long term (10 -15 years) experience has shown that the tiling may require additional work. This could include grouting or tile replacement in areas. The latter can be time consuming and expensive. One recommendation we would make is for owners to consider the use of 316L stainless steel rather than the typical 304 stainless steel.

PLUMBING AND BURIED PIPE

The stainless steel gutter incorporates an integral supply chamber in the face of the gutter. This supply chamber is easily accessible if a repair is necessary. There is very little buried PVC pipe in a stainless system to be crushed or fall victim to “settling”. The concrete gutter system requires extensive buried pipe work and shell penetrations. A typical 25-yard pool may require as many as 40 supply inlets throughout. A simple plumbing diagram would show hundreds of feet of buried pipe transgressing the pool. A leak or breach in any of this buried piping is certainly not accessible. While this is not common, anyone who ever experienced a broken line under the deck or pool shell can appreciate the severity of this problem.FEATURES

We now offer low pressure UV systems and Ozone systems for small commercial pools and spas and medium sized outdoor pools. See page 5 for more details. The Nex Gen On-Site Chlorine Generator (page 16) utilizes salt to manufacture chlorine on-site – using the water from the swimming pool. But here’s the trick – there is no salt added to the pool. All salt is stored off line and so is the chlorine that gets manufactured. A Stenner pump then feeds the liquid chlorine from a storage tank into the pool as it is needed. The Nex Gen can easily serve multiple pools from a single unit.
