The Charlton Park Village

Foundation was established in 1988

with the mission to provide funds to

maintain the Park’s Historic Village,

Museum and Collections.

Recognizing that financial assis-

tance is needed to supplement the

taxpayer supported .2259 mils used

to currently operate the Park, the

Foundation created an endowment

fund to supplement Park improve-

ments. This goal is considerable

since there are more than 20 historic

structures on the Park grounds, most

of which are over 100 years old.

Due to many generous gifts, our

donors have enabled the Foundation

Board of Directors to grant over

$288,000 since its inception.

Projects slated for funding in 2014

include: renovation of our 1909

Buick Model F, restoration of the

iconic Hastings City Bank Clock,

funding for a collections intern and

upgrades to the museum security

system. We need your help to con-

tinue the Park’s legacy. Please con-

sider a donation to the Charlton Park

Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization.

Donations are tax deductible.

Irving Charlton strongly believed in the

preservation of agricultural and common

household objects from the 19th century for

the education of future generations. Our edu-

cation programs are designed to expand stu-

dent’s knowledge and comprehension of the

past through hands-on participation in our

historic village. We provide a personal con-

nection to history that can be adapted to any

age or interest level. The education programs

utilize the buildings and artifacts to bring his-

tory alive for your students! Your students

will be able to see, listen, touch, smell, and

feel their way through history! Our most pop-

ular programs are Live-In and Down on the

Farm. If you choose the Live-In, students live

the life of a child at the turn-of-the century by

participating in daily chores and activities. If

you choose Down on the Farm, students

experience what life may have been like liv-

ing on a farm in the late 1800’s. You also may

select experiences la carte. Interested?

Charlton Park will continue to offer their pro-

grams for FREE to Barry County schools

who attend field trips during the month of

November.

Historic Charlton Park is a destination location for Barry County

residents and visitors from all over the Midwest. One main attrac-

tion is the Park’s line up of summer events and we are excited to

host three new special events in 2014. This section highlights sev-

eral of the Park’s many summer offerings.

Join Our Team: VolunteerHistoric Charlton Park is so much

more than a collection of old buildings

and artifacts. It is a special place made

so by the people who bring life to the

village. If you have a positive attitude

and a few free hours per month, please

consider volunteering at Charlton

Park. The Park is always seeking vol-

unteers to serve as tour guides and

activity instructors for education pro-

grams, handy-people and gardeners to

care for our facilities, gift shop atten-

dants during special events, and much

more! Some of the reasons our volun-

teers give for donating their time and

talents to Charlton Park include: mak-

ing a measurable impact on the collec-

tion or an education program, some-

thing to do to fight off boredom,

enjoying the outdoors, and the chance

to talk with the public. Each volunteer

makes it a better place by adding their

own talents and interests to the mix.

Would you consider joining us?

Benefits of volunteering at Charlton

Park include complimentary event

passes and bi-annual recognition

luncheons.
