I hope that you are seeing this too, when you are helping with their learning at home and at parents evening. Next half term we will be focusing on the value of Paence. With all our children we will be considering about what we need to do when we are waing for something. For example if we plant a seed, we then have to be paent before we have the fruit. Paence is not just about waing but having a hopeful and caring approach during this me. For example with the seed we will need to nurture it and and give it the right condions to grow. Another example to consider is if we have a new puppy. We want a well trained dog, but we can't simply wait for this to happen. We need to demonstrate paence. During this me we will give the puppy love and spend me training it. If it does not do what we would like, we won't be unkind, we will connue to support and train the puppy with kindness and perhaps try something new with it. Paence is taking acon with hope and kindness. 'But if we hope for what we do not have, we wait for it paently.' Romans 8:25 Parent Forum We will be trialling 2 mings for Parent Forum on Tuesday the 31st March at 2pm and then at 6pm. Please put this date in your diary. It is an opportunity for me to share the school priories with you and also discuss any developments in the local area that impact our school. I hope with two opons of mes we will be able to meet with more of you. Thank you for your support this term. Kind Regards Miss A. Higginbotham Execuve Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

The children have had an excellent half term and are really enjoying their curriculum, as a result we are seeing great progress in their skills and understanding. I hope that you are seeing this too, when you are helping with their learning at home and at parents evening.

Next half term we will be focusing on the value of Patience. With all our children we will be considering about what we need to do when we are waiting for something. For example if we plant a seed, we then have to be patient before we have the fruit. Patience is not just about waiting but having a hopeful and caring approach during this time. For example with the seed we will need to nurture it and and give it the right conditions to grow.

Another example to consider is if we have a new puppy. We want a well trained dog, but we can't simply wait for this to happen. We need to demonstrate patience. During this time we will give the puppy love and spend time training it. If it does not do what we would like, we won't be unkind, we will continue to support and train the puppy with kindness and perhaps try something new with it.

Patience is taking action with hope and kindness.

'But if we hope for what we do not have, we wait for it patiently.' Romans 8:25

Another great two weeks at Haselbury Plucknett First School, ending with the two classes coming together to make birdfeeders. It was so lovely to see the children not only helping each other but excited to be helping the wildlife. We hope to put some of the birdfeeders up in the school grounds to encourage some interesting feathered visitors over the coming months.

On Monday 10th February we celebrated Internet Safety Day (a day early!). Each class took part in an assembly and further activities in classrooms. You should also have received a copy of the Vodafone Digital Magazine, it’s a really interesting read so please take time to look through it.

Catkins Class have enjoyed looking at the story of The Good Samaritan and Hazel Class used the Jewish Story of the creation in their Godly play. These are such special times with the children hearing their thoughts and ideas.

We held the Young Voices lead up competition, where children gave a two-minute presentation on someone inspirational. We had a fabulous time listening to the children talk about the people who inspire them. Our two winners were Lylie from Catikins Class and Matilda from Hazel Class. They will now go on to the official Young Voices competition held at Greenfylde School on Tuesday 3rd March.

Finally, Catkins have enjoyed a Fairytale picnic with their pre-school friends this week, there were smiles all round and Hazel Class had an absolutely fantastic class trip to Carymoor Environmental Centre. They built shelters. Learnt how to purify water, cooked bread, went orienteering and completed a ‘Poo Dunnit?’ challenge.

Have a great week off. We look forward to more fun and learning next half term.

Safer Internet Day 2020

Every year in February, Safer Internet Day is celebrated around the world. The global theme is ‘together for a better internet’ This year's focus in the UK is how young people explore and express their identity online. The UK Safer Internet Centre has launched a series of short films called 'How can parents talk to

children about their online lives?'

This week, children have brought home an information leaflet about how we are celebrating World Book Day this year on Thursday 5th March. This is includes a link to dressing up ideas and information about a special storytime event as well as a sponsored readathon. Please check your child's bag to find out more.
