Assume Good Will None of us has the time in our day to go out of the way to plot how to make someone else’s life more difficult. When a challenge arises, don’t make assumptions. Find out the facts. The Value of Every Human Being Every person you meet along the way is the most important person in the world to someone. Sometimes they know it, sometimes they don’t. Each person should be treated with the highest levels of respect and worth always. You never know when the next person you meet along the way may become the most important person in the world to you. Livnot Kehilah We are builders of community. When presented with a situation, ask yourself, ’Will the decision that I make help build community, or break down community?’ Be Grateful Life has infinite value. Take time every day to identify the people, places, interactions or things you are grateful for – it just makes life a little bit sweeter. Take your gratitude one step farther by committing it to paper. You can never underestimate the value of a thank you note. Believe Believe in yourself. You’re here for a reason. Generational Leadership In order to find balance, and work towards being wildly successful, know before whom you stand. Learn from those who came before you, and work with passion to ensure your hard work lives on. Great leaders grow greater leaders. Compassion None of us ever knows everything that is going on in someone else’s life. We’re also each allowed to have days where we’re just off. It takes a lot less effort to be kind than it does to be unkind. Give people space and support when they need it. Pick A Door When a conflict arises, you have two options. Speak with the person with whom you are having the conflict, or simply let it go. Sharing the information with other people breeds a culture of lashon hara. Be Your Best – Accept the Rest Each of us should strive to do our best in everything we do. At the same time, we need to recognize that our personal best might not be to the same standard as someone else’s personal best. That does not mean they aren’t doing their best. Best is different for everyone. Be a Buber. Or a Baeck. Or... Whether you believe that God exists in our relationships, in the beauty of nature around us, in your congregational sanctuary, in the clouds, or maybe you’re just not even sure, please know this: I am sure that if God was asked to list a home address, it would read: ’Kutz Camp, 46 Bowen Road, Warwick, NY, 10990’.
