GATHERING
PRELUDE “All Glory Be to God on High” R. Haan
DIALOGE
P. God of all life, of all times, and of all seasons, hear now our worship of wonder
and thanksgiving for the gifts of your creation.
C. For this world, our homes, and for every sign of your presence within it; for
all that nurtures our bodies, delights our senses, and uplifts our hearts: we
praise you, O Lord.
P. For the constancy and the beauty of your creation, for the breath of the wind, the
scent of the flowers, and the majesty of the trees: we praise you, O Lord.
C. For the progression of your days and nights, the rhythm of your seasons,
the wonder of your stars, and the depth of your seas: we praise you, O
Lord.
3
P. Gracious God, by whom our roots are nourished and our life sustained, we praise
your name for your presence that never fails us.
C. We give thanks that by your love we know life and are able to love;
P. That by your peace we are able to know what peace requires of us;
C. That by your peace we learn what we must do to be peacemakers;
P. That by your forgiveness we know both how to give and how to receive the
forgiveness that can bind up this world’s wounds and heal our divisions.
C. O Lord, you created us in hope and guided us in love; as your people, we
have long searched to know your will and live by your commandments.
P. On this Harvest Home, we join to acknowledge the rich legacy which is ours,
inherited from our forebears and celebrated by us today.
C. For all the many ways in which you have blessed us throughout all the
years, O Lord, we offer you our praise and thanksgiving. Amen.
PEACE
The Peace of the Lord be with you always.
And also with you

PRAYER OF THE DAY
O Lord, maker of all things, you open your hand and satisfy the desire of every
living creature. We praise you for crowning the fields with your blessings and
enabling us once more to gather in the fruits of the earth. Teach us to use your gifts
carefully, that our land may continue to yield its increase, through Jesus Christ, our
Savior and Lord. Amen.

WORD
A Reading from Genesis 6And God said, "Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate
the waters from the waters." 7So God made the dome and separated the waters that
were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so. 8God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the
second day. 9And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place,
and let the dry land appear." And it was so. 10God called the dry land Earth, and the
waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11Then God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit
trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it." And it was so. 12The
earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every
kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. 13And there
was evening and there was morning, the third day. 14And God said, "Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from
the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, 15and let
them be lights in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth." And it was so. 16God made the two great lights — the greater light to rule the day and the lesser
light to rule the night — and the stars. 17God set them in the dome of the sky to give
light upon the earth, 18to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the
light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19And there was evening
and there was morning, the fourth day. (Genesis 1: 6-19)
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Psalm 104: 1, 13-23
1Bless the LORD, O my soul.
O LORD my God, you are very great.
You are clothed with honor and majesty,
13From your lofty abode you water the mountains;
the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.
14You cause the grass to grow for the cattle,
and plants for people to use,
to bring forth food from the earth,
15and wine to gladden the human heart,
oil to make the face shine,
and bread to strengthen the human heart.
16The trees of the LORD are watered abundantly,
the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
17In them the birds build their nests;
the stork has its home in the fir trees.
18The high mountains are for the wild goats;
the rocks are a refuge for the coneys.
19You have made the moon to mark the seasons;
the sun knows its time for setting.
20You make darkness, and it is night,
when all the animals of the forest come creeping out.
21The young lions roar for their prey,
seeking their food from God.
22When the sun rises, they withdraw
and lie down in their dens.
23People go out to their work
and to their labor until the evening.

A Reading from Acts 27At that time prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28One of them
named Agabus stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe
famine over all the world; and this took place during the reign of Claudius. 29The
disciples determined that according to their ability, each would send relief to the
believers living in Judea; 30this they did, sending it to the elders by Barnabas and
Saul. (Acts 11: 27-30)
The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
Gospel John 6: 35 – 40
The Holy Gospel according to St. John. Glory to you, O Lord.
35Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be
hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36But I said to you that
you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37Everything that the Father gives me will
come to me, and anyone who comes to me I will never drive away; 38for I have
9
come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. 39And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he
has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40This is indeed the will of my Father,
that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise
them up on the last day."
The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You, O Christ.

HYMN OF THE DAY Sing to the Lord of Harvest #694
APOSTLE’S CREED
P. Living together in trust and hope, we confess our faith.
C. I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen .

SANCTUS
WORDS OF INSTITUTION
In the night in which he was betrayed,
our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks;
broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks,
and gave it for all to drink, saying:
This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
13
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, forever and forever. Amen.
