Power and data transmission solutionsThe team of system solution experts develops the best

possible solution for transmitting signals, data and

electrical power as efficiently as possible from one place

to another. Examples include the entire cabling systems

for wind turbine power plants, ranging from the nacelle

to the control or power switch cabinets on the ground or,

in rail technology, from the locomotive through to the

last railcar.

PCB designOn request, our layout service develops the necessary

hardware to transform your circuit design into a

professional circuit diagram and PCB layout. A wide

range of different PCB variants (one-sided, plated-

through and flexible PCBs), multilayer and special types

can be produced, assembled and offered as a complete

solution.

2D/3D CADWe develop and design individual components and

complete solutions in our in-house Teamcenter

application. This supports housings, switch cabinets,

mounting plates, adapters and lots more. We use a wide

variety of different technologies depending on

requirements, quantity and complexity.

System engineeringOur team works with you to develop the specifications

based on the actual situation and task definition. After

developing the concept, we present our system solution

using 3D models, prototypes, FEM calculations and cost

analysis for approval and joint agreement. Throughout

the process, the audited HARTING quality system

monitors and tests your products.

PCB productionOur single- or multi-layer PCB solutions are generated

by a variety of individual production steps, such as the

creation of circuit diagrams, routing, assembly and

subsequent testing. These solutions are based on

controlled and reliable production credentials.

Overmolding and encapsulating technologyOvermolding and encapsulating technology comprises

mold manufacture for encapsulation, injection molding

technology for assembled solutions, molding connectors

and replacing housings in different molds. It also

involves the production of plastic injection molded

components, including tools, and the production of deep-

drawn plastic parts, for example, covering caps.

HARTING’s manufacturing capabilities are a consistent supplement to the system design planning phase. These strengths

Surface finishingWe offer EMC treatments, paint finishes or powder

coating surface finishes in any color. Naturally, we also

take care of the chemical pretreatment or primer.

Production of housingsWe produce cast aluminum housings in diecasting,

permanent mold or sand casting processes in different

metal alloys. For years HARTING has been producing

high-quality sheet metal housings, for example, made

from stainless steel, steel, nickel silver or aluminum, as

well as plastic housings.

System solutionsAccording to our understanding, system solutions mean

implementing your requirements for functionality,

dimensions, color, etc. in order to develop a

comprehensive solution, namely your BEST CUSTOMER

SOLUTION. We are happy to work with your data and, in

close cooperation with you, create the right product for

your application while, of course, always using the most

innovative HARTING connectivity technologies.

Cable assemblyHARTING produces cabling solutions with standard,

hybrid or special cables, as well as cable sets for complete

machine and switch cabinet cabling. We assemble bus

cables for Ethernet, Profibus or other communication

protocols. We also assemble FOC cables on the basis of

plastic, glass (monomode, gradient and grade index) or

HCS fibers.

AutomationThe migration from established field bus systems to

Standardization processes also define specific plug-and-

play solutions that have to meet the requirements of a

Broadcast & EntertainmentThe use of hybrid cable solutions is increasing in the

broadcast market. HARTING produces these solutions to

customer order. The cable solutions are produced in

accordance with the industrial standard and fitted with

black housings in order to absorb light reflections and

Testing quality and compliance with standards

HARTING Corporate Technology Services (CTS) is a test

laboratory that is accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025

and is one more building block in the HARTING

Technology Group’s understanding of quality. Exhaustive

and careful testing of electromechanical, electronic and

optical connection, transmission and network technology

guarantees the high HARTING standard customers have

come to expect.

Optical and tactile 3D coordinate measurement

technology is available for the dimensional measurement

of components.

Component tests comprise electrical and mechanical

tests, vibration and shock tests and microscopic testing

in conjunction with the climatic and environment impact

in order to ensure environmental compatibility and IP

protection class. In addition, CTS employees support the

design department by analyzing the signal integrity of

electronic and fiber-optic transmission systems.

Hardness measurements using a nanoindenter as input

parameter in the computer simulations help to ensure

reliability as early as at the development stage.

Material analysis, topography and roughness (optical/

tactile) testing are used to evaluate microsystems. X-ray

fluorescence analysis via a semi-conductor detector is

used to ensure RoHS conformity during qualification

testing. As established parts of electromagnetic

compatibility, EMS and EMI testing are particularly

important for the award of the CE symbol (German

Electromagnetic Compatibility Act).
