    HITTING THE ROADThe Hartford Colonials begin a stretch of threeconsecutive road games, starting with the firstof two in a row out west. Rather than fly backto Hartford, the Colonials will go straight fromLas Vegas to Sacramento before returninghome. Saturdays game against in Las Vegas

    will be televised on the VERSUS network. Thegame can be heard on ESPN Radio1410/WPOP-AM with Jason Page on play-by-play and Rob Lunn providing analysis.

    A MUCH-NEEDED WINThe Colonials have lost three in a row, fallingto 1-3 and in danger of falling out of

    contention. The threestraight losesrepresent the longestsuch streak by a UFLteam this season. In

    all three loses,Hartford led athalftime but failed tomaintain theadvantage over thefinal 30 minutes. Also,the Colonials wereeither leading or had

    possession with a chance to take the lead inthe closing minutes.

    LOOKING BACKThe Colonials are coming off a 19-14 loss to

    Omaha. For the second straight game,Hartford committed four turnovers. The finalone was a fumble that resulted from high snapover quarterback Josh McCowns head in theshotgun formation with 2:27 remaining. TheNighthawks recovered at their 47-yard line andpicked up two first downs, running out theclock to seal their second victory over theColonials this season.

    COLONIALS HEAD COACH CHRIS PALMER

    Hartford Colonials Head Coach and General Manager Chris Palmer is inhis 38th overall season as a football coach and 23rd year in the

    professional ranks. The UFL is the fourth different professional footballleague Palmer has been a coach. The other three: NFL (1990-2000,2002-09), the defunct United State Football League (1984-85) and theCanadian Football League (1983). Palmer was the Quarterbacks Coachfor the New York Giants the last three seasons (2007-09) and served inthat role for one year (2006) with the Dallas Cowboys. Prior to that hewas the Houston Texans Offensive Coordinator (2002-05), ClevelandBrowns Head Coach (1999-2000), Jacksonville Jaguars OffensiveCoordinator (97-98), New England Patriots Wide Receivers andQuarterbacks Coach (1993-96), and Houston Oilers Receivers Coach(1990-92).

    win. We have the talent, weve had the opportunities. We just got to bea little more consistent. Im sure were going to rally around each otherand were going to come out and put up a good fight.

    Colonials tight end Tyson DeVree on what it will take to win:

    Weve just got to keep doing what we do. Were not getting beat by40. We just to execute a little bit better and get the job done.

    Colonials tackle Pete Clifford on what the offensive line needsto do:We just need to keep coming off the ball as hard as possible like wevebeen doing. Just show a sense of urgency a little bit more. We need tokeep the quarterback clean, let him set up and get some throws inthere so we can give ourselves the best chance to win this game.

    ROSTER MOVES

    Unfortunately it has been a busy week on the medical front for theColonials. The team placed three players on Injured Reserve: DT AdrianGrady, FB Asaph Schwapp and OL Rueben Riley. The team alsoreleased WR Taurus Johnson.

    MEET THE REPLACEMENTS

    The Colonials signed the following players this week:

    FB Jason Davis (5-10, 242): Among the final cuts in Jets trainingcamp. He played in his first NFL game with Raiders on Nov. 2, 2008.After being released by Oakland, Davis signed with the Bears andplayed five games, including three starts. He signed with the Eagles as

    an undrafted free agent out of Illinois in 2006.

    LB Harry Coleman (6-2, 206): Recently released from the Saintspractice squad. The former standout at LSU was a two-year starter withthe Tigers and played on the 2007 national championship team. Heswitched from strong safety to linebacker for his senior year in collegeand was named Tigers MVP in 2009, when he registered a career-high82 tackles, four sacks and three forced fumbles in 13 games.

    G Ryan Cave (6-4, 340): Rejoins the Colonials after participating withthe team during training camp. He played at Hampton University.

    DT Marlon Favorite (6-1, 317): Former LSU player was released by

    the Colts last month. He was a member of the Saints practice squadlast season, and also had brief stints with the Panthers, Rams, Chiefs,Seahawks and Bills.

    For whatever reason, the Colonials have performed better in the firsthalf than the second half.
