Sheriff's Report John Strousburger reported on Commissioners meetings concerning Sheriffs budget -an article in the Journal written by Annette McGee concerninQ "procedure" not beinQ properly followed. Additional cuts were made this week.

Fire District 5 Fire prevention tips were given. The failed equipment levy was discussed. HICC members seemed to echo the complete inventory requested during these times was not appropriate. A staged replacement might be supported better.

Senior Lunch Chicken Tetrazzini will be served on December 14m. HI Chorus Performing in the Hall Sunday December 11 m!! Neighborhood Watch Echoed Sheriffs reports with statistical numbers. We have lost 9 deputies due to past cuts since 2008. Upcoming cuts could cost us up to

6 more, including the animal control officer and more of the Jail could be shut down. Linda Nickell and April are asking everyone to read the memorandum from the Sheriff posted on KMAS discussing questions and concerns posed from Mason County NW groups. We are extremely concerned with across the board cuts, and there not being an evident structural base for manning the sheriffs department and as the economy worsens so is our crime rate, and likely more cuts. We are currently running over 1300 citizens per deputy and (max is 1000 Tacoma will go from 400-700 with their cuts). If public safety is a concern it will take more than a handful of neighborhood watch peoples efforts to make necessarv chanQes. Please be informed- Please make your public safety needs known to the commissioners.

St. David's homeless shelter addresses the needs of those who are homeless in Mason County on nights when the wind chill places temps at or below 35 degrees. Shelter is available to both men and women housed on two separate floors. Due to the backgrounds of these individuals and liability, children cannot be offered refuge at this location. Cash donations are welcomed at P.O. Box 339 Shelton Wa. 98584. Clothing bedding and toiletry items are needed (in the individual sizes or packages). We learned that Chris Carlson from our Island cooks the dinners m-f at that location.
