Note from Mrs. Harrison
Dear Families, A quick reminder that Thursday marks the end of our first marking period. Students will have a half day on Thursday and there is no school on Friday. Report Cards will be sent home next Thursday.
This week students will continue to learn about Michigan in social studies as they learn the state symbols. A fun website for the students to visit to learn about these symbols can be found on our class website or http://www.michigan.gov/kids/0,4600,7-247-49069---,00.html

A big thanks to all the parents who helped make our Halloween Party such a success. All the students had fun eating delicious treats, participating in a pumpkin relay race, decorating little pumpkins, and playing with special pumpkin scented play-dough. Be sure to checkout the new pictures that were just posted on our webpage as well as our Halloween movie:

Note from Mrs. Harrison Continued:
Students are beginning to bring in and share their Flat Stanley’s or Stacey’s adventure photos and stories. After students share their pictures and letters with the class they are putting them in the hall for all to enjoy. These will be on display during parent/teacher conferences which will be taking place in a few weeks. I will let you know your assigned conference time as soon as I receive the schedule from the office.

November Number Corner
Overview
Students explore area and arrays as they look for patterns and relationships on the Calendar Grid markers and play a game called Array Race in the Computational Fluency workout. Students learn about and practice rounding with a game on the Number Line and they begin exploring fractionsas they collect halves, fourths, and eighths in the Calendar Collector’s Unit Fraction Race. Problem Strings workout switch from string work to problem solving this month, as students work on strategies and skills including writing equations with letters standing for unknown quantities.
