HARRIETS COVER-ALLSize is approx 12mths+

Requirements

1. Towelling fabric or similar 1 piece 35cm x 40cm.( You could try PVC

coated fabric for the whole project.)

2. 35cm of Cotton fabric.

3. 2.6meters of Pre-made 1" bias tape

4. 30cm narrow elastic

Instructions

Firstly join the pattern pieces together at the marked points to make 2

whole pattern pieces.

Next cut out 1 front panel in towelling.

Cut 2 sleeves, pay attention to the marked grain lines on the

patterns.

Cut 2 pieces of elastic 12cm long. Taking notice of the

marks on the cuff end of the sleeve pattern. Draw a

pencil line across the width of the cuff from point to

point. Pin the elastic to each end of the drawn line across the cuff

of the sleeve. Stretch the elastic and put a pin in the centre. To

sew the elastic in place use a small zig zag stitch on your machine

and stretch the elastic flat between the pins as you sew.

Now you can sew the side seam of each sleeve. Overlock the raw

edges or use a zig-zag stitch over the edge to neaten the raw edge.Turn the cuff edge under twice to make a hem of approximatley

1/4" when finished.

When the sleeves are complete they can be sewn to the towelling front

section. Match the dots on the pattern pieces for the towelling front and

the sleeve front. Sew these together with right sides out. I used a

generous 1/4" seam allowance. NOTE: the sleeve seam is slightly offset

with the side of the towelling front, the front of the sleeve is wider than

the back.

Press all your bias tape in half along the length. Cut a length for

each of the sides you have just sewn to the sleeves. Pin the bias in

place covering the raw edges and carefully sew it down through all

the thickness. Iron the bias towards the centre front and

topstitch the bias flat now.

Next, a length of folded bias the will run from the centre back, atthe top edge of the sleeve, all the way around, under the arm,

around the front bottom edge, back up and around to the centre

back on the top of the other sleeve. Pin all the way around and then

stich it in place.

Cut a length of bias for the neck edge that will also extend over

each end to form the ties. Remember to fold the end in so they

will not frey.

Pin the bias in place and sew from one end, around the neck, to the

other end. You can now place an applique or motif on the front if

 you wish.

I hope you enjoyed making this fun project.

Thankyou for downloading my pattern.
