They share their design origin with sports climbing and biking helmets, adding a 4-point chin strap, expanded foam liner offering front, back and side protection and reduced brim length for increased visibility. Hard hats are designed to protect the wearer’s head from injury due to falling objects, impacts and other hazards. They are tested to meet and exceed the ANSI Z89.1 Type I OR Type II standard. Unlike most other hard hats, the wearer can attach a 4-point chin strap directly to the shell of any JSP hard hat. KEY TALKING POINTS ABOUT JSP HEAD PROTECTION • JSP hard hats have been developed to seamlessly integrate with a wide range of above the neck PPE. • JSP EVO® 6100 ASCEND™ line developed with traditional styling in mind to make driving acceptance of compliance easier. • Integrated eyewear is included on the EVO®VISTA™ line and is also available as an option on the EVO®6100 line. • You can get them logo’d just like our current line of JSP hard hats. • Many end users incorrectly assume inclusion of a foam liner indicates Type II. • JSP use the same pre-installed suspensions currently found on our Type I Hard Hats for all day comfort. WHAT IS THE NEW LAW & WHO IS DRIVING THE CHANGE? At present under OSHA guidelines employers are only required to wear ANSI Z89.1 Type I Hard Hats. Change is being driven by national general contractors, such as Clark, Skanska, as well as major end users like Microsoft, in an effort to reduce Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) incidents. TBI accounted for 25% of all construction workplace fatalities between 2003 and 2010.
