February 2017

Welcome to the month of February, the shortest month of the year. I hope everyone had a great New Year and made some positive New Year’s Resolutions. The flower for the month of February is the “Violet.” The Violet flower comes in a variety of colors, such as: blue, mauve, yellow and cream. The Violet flower has appeared in many famous paintings throughout history. Some people believe this type of flower symbolizes faithfulness, chastity, the truth of love and humility. In Ancient Times, the Violet flower was used as a food source and was cooked into a soup consistency. The Monks used the Violet Flower for reducing pain it’s natural scent. Many people also used this flower to make ink for writing. The birth signs for the month of February are: Aquarius and Pisces. The birthstone for the month of February is the “Amethyst.” The Ancient Greeks believed this stone protected the wearer from drunkenness and helped them to keep a healthy balanced mindset.

ACTIVITY NEWS

Resident Council and Food Committee will still be held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to attend and share ideas and suggestions. In March, “Quest,” which is an organization for home schooled children, will be singing and dancing for us on March 31st, 2017. This will be an exciting intergenerational program. We are very happy that they have chosen Woodland Palms as part of their community outreach. Many residents enjoyed Savanna coming into our community and playing Bingo. Savanna has agreed to come in every other Monday to call Bingo and to provide prizes to the winners. This activity is sponsored by Bring’s Broadway Chapel.

Liseth is a hard worker and is devoted to making sure all our residents are happy. We appreciate all her efforts and we believe she is a valued employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty.
