In January, Mission Friends with learn about Ryan Seane Rice, missionaries in New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans is a unique city. It is a large city, but it is broken up into smaller communities which are very different. The Rices’ neighborhood is in the oldest community in New Orleans. Connect Church of Algiers, the church plant in which the Rices serve, meets needs to developing partnerships in their community. They partner with a local elemen-tary school by helping with special events and maintenance. Another partner is an apartment complex where the church family serves by offering financial literacy programs, free health fairs, Bible studies, and Bible clubs for children. They also reach out to their community through block parties and festivals.
5 FUN FACTS ABOUT THE MISSIONARIES
Ryan and Seané Rice met one another while they were in school at Dillard University in New Orle-ans. They’ve now been married 11 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Rice have four children, Ryan, Jr., Brayden, Reagen, and Bailey.
Mr. and Mrs. Rice love to try new and different res-taurants in New Orleans.
As a child, Seané Rice loved going to VBS and Sun-day School. She says her favorite thing as a child was hearing the stories in the Bible, espe-cially the stories about Jesus.
Mr. and Mrs. Rice’s greatest joy in life is reaching, loving, and pointing people to Jesus.
PRAYER REQUESTS FOR THE MISSIONARIES
Pray that the Rices will be able to reach out to fami-lies in the community, especially those with chil-dren and teenagers.
Pray that the Lord will raise up more leaders to help and serve in the local church.
Pray that church members will share the story of Je-sus with their friends and neighbors.
Pray that the Rices will continue to grow in their love for serving others in the name of Jesus.
Pray that the Rices will be strengthened to fulfill the ministry God has given them in New Orleans.

Mailbox Bible Club
The last line of a quote by Charles Sell concerning the
world’s greatest need is “Our greatest need was for-
giveness, so God sent us a Savior.” The main purpose
of the Mailbox Bible Club (MBC) is to help people
come to a saving knowledge of Christ. Twenty-three
individuals have let us know they have made a pro-
fession of faith in 2017 .
Another goal of MBC is to help people gain in their
knowledge and understanding of God’s Word. Stu-
dents have completed and returned 5,600 lessons to
us in 2017, and twenty adult students completed eve-
ry adult lesson in the program (65 lessons). We also
have been able to award 197 Bibles this year to those
who have completed their first series of lessons.
While it may seem that a Mailbox Bible Club may be
primarily for children, 298 of our 417 active students
are adults.
This month we have begun to see an influx of post-
cards from the backpack giveaways. We have re-
ceived 171 postcards, mainly with names of children
who are requesting to receive Bible study lessons.
We are glad that people are concerned about others
and through the year have given us 1,575 names of
people they would like to receive Bible studies. We
look forward to another productive year in 2018.

FANTASTIC NEWS FROM CHURCH PLANT - NEW HEIGHTS CHURCH
Remember the church plant that had its beginning in Milton, WV known as New Heights Church? This church has now grown to three campuses. We praise God for His continued work as those members in the Huntington/Milton area reach out to “Grow God’s Forever Fami-ly.”
During the month of December at New Heights Church, eighteen people took membership, and one new baptism was celebrated between all three campuses.
At the Huntington campus a member who is a recovering drug addict has partnered with a women's recovery home, first known as the ARK, and plans to open their doors in January to minis-ter to this great need in the Huntington are.
There was much need for benevolence assistance during the Christmas season. New Heights helped as many families as they could. In December, 45 church families sponsored 45 kids for Christmas.

Women’s Ministry
When you think of January many words may come to mind...beginning, fresh start, do overs, goals, a new year, hope, and so much more. It's the first month of a new year. It's exciting and full of hope! Many of us will set goals to im-prove our lives in this up coming year; exercise more, lose weight, make job changes, get financially organized, over-come a fear, and the list goes on and on. What if instead of, or in addition to, setting our normal physical, material goals, this year we, CLBC women, set spiritual goals; read our bibles more, spend more time in prayer and fasting, focus on biblical living, strive to put God first in EVERYTHING, spend more time getting to know our fellow sisters-in-Christ and helping each other, strive to be the neighbor, mother, and wife God calls us to be. Now, I know we all try to work on these areas throughout the year, but this is a chance to really start the new year off right... FOCUSED ON GOD! I hope you will join us in this chal-lenge to make the women of CLBC spirit-ually stronger and more focused on God in 2018. It's going to be a great year!
